Finalizing the bid – no small task!

It was a tremendous relief to get the bulk of our FAcT proposal submission in! We’d like to thank our entire team across Canada once again for the hard work and dedication in helping get SkyAlyne to this point.

However, we still have some work to go on finalizing our proposal to provide the best training and in-service support solution for the Royal Canadian Air Force with a made-in-Canada solution. We expect all elements of our FAcT proposal will be completed and submitted to Canada by the Spring.

Stay tuned to our channels for further update in 2023! In addition to this newsletter, we are active on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. Of course, you can learn more at skyalyne.ca.

KF supports Indigenous pilot training after hangar fire

A devastating fire last year at a First Nations Technical Institute’s (FNTI) facility on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in Ontario threatened to shut down their aviation training program. However, thanks to the efforts of SkyAlyne parent company KF Aerospace and other industry partners, the FNTI flight training programs remain open to students!

In response to the disaster, KF Aerospace volunteered to donate a temporary hangar structure to safely house aircraft required for continued training at Mohawk Aerodrome. KF staff and contractors worked closely with FNTI to identify key facility requirements and complete the installation in time to protect its fleet from harsh winter conditions.

SkyAlyne kicks off 2023 event calendar in the prairies

SkyAlyne started off 2023’s event circuit with a bang, with two events in Saskatchewan and Manitoba!

On January 25, SkyAlyne Solutions Lead, Maryse Carmichael, (pictured) and her team attended FHQ Developments’ Business Development Day in Regina.

On January 26, SkyAlyne Head of Operations, Peter Fedak, represented our team at Manitoba Aerospace’s 4th Annual Indigenous Aerospace and Aviation Showcase in Winnipeg. SkyAlyne was also proud to be the premier sponsor for this very important event!

Thanks to both organizations for being gracious hosts, and for providing SkyAlyne the opportunity to build even more important relationships with potential partners.

KF Centre for Excellence Opens in Kelowna

In Late August 2022, Kelowna, BC, officially added a new one-of-a-kind community destination and event centre.

The KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence is truly a shrine to Canadian aviation , conceptualized by lifelong aviation enthusiast and KF Aerospace founder Barry Lapointe. Since last summer, Visitors and aviation enthusiasts from across Canada have been flocking to the Centre to attend events, browse interactive displays and check out some of the fully restored, WWII-era aircraft on display in the Centre’s hangars.

Read the story of how the Centre came to be here.

The KF Centre for Excellence is open, and its residents are STUNNING!

Pictured here in the Centre’s North hangar is a Beechcraft G17S Staggerwing (left) and a Hawker Tempest MKII (right). The Hawker Tempest has been a labour of love for the KF Aerospace team, who started its restoration in 2014 after KF Aerospace founder, Barry Lapointe, bought it from a seller in New Zealand. Laying in pieces, the aircraft was in rough shape and was shipped to Canada in several containers.

Almost a decade later, the painstakingly meticulous restoration project is largely finished, as the team puts on the final touches before getting the Tempest airborne sometime in the next year or so.
