10 best world premiere video game reveals at Summer Game Fest 2024

Date:

There were loads of fantastic game releases in the Summer Game Fest 2024, but there are definitely some I’m going to be checking out the moment I can.

Enotria, The Last Song

To kickstart this list, I’m choosing what is currently my most anticipated game: Enotria, The Last Song. This game is oozing with flavor and theme, and it looks as though it’ll a Soulslike more akin to Bloodborne and Lies of P with the mask and weapon switching.

Recent non-Fromsoft Soulslikes, like Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen, have been performing very well recently, which is a good omen for Enortia. I love the stylish classical theme – it just looks so elegant and clean. It’s about time we had a Soulslike with a more vibrant setting.

The masks, the setting, the eloquence – everything looks so stylised. I can’t wait to dive in.

New Palworld Island, Sakurajima

Come on, you knew the Palworld update would make it to this list. I played Palworld loads when it came out, and my favorite part was the exploration and discovering new Pals. This new update with Sakurajima island is set to provide even more of what I love.

A whole new island to explore is one thing, but (finally) adding a PvP arena, a new boss and faction, and new subspecies of existing Pals really makes this update the full package. I wonder also what new lore this update will bring…

I can’t wait to get lost once again in Palworld to find even more Pals.

Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong had a super intriguing and stylish cinematic for Summer Game Fest that reminded me why I’m anticipating this game so much. With those visuals and monsters beyond comprehension, I can’t wait to take them on as the Monkey King.

The game presents itself as a Soulslike, although is more akin to God of War, promising a gorgeous and frightening array of characters and settings whilst providing a rich ensemble of actions and combat. If this combination is anything to go by, it’s that the gameplay will be as incredible as that cinematic.

Black Myth: Wukong looks to be an unforgettable game.

Killer Bean

I genuinely can’t believe the silly meme film I watched years ago is here as a game. This was not on my 2024 bingo card, and I’d like a refund. Although the inherent nature of Killer Bean existing as a video game seems like some sort of skit, the game looks to be genuinely fantastic.

Refreshingly, Killer Bean is exactly what it says on the tin. An action game. No ridiculous gimmicks or battle passes, just slow-mo shootouts, break dancing, and witty one-liners. And bean people.

I’ve been following the development of Killer Bean for a while now, and I’m looking forward to jumping in as the Killer Bean.

Warhammer: Space Marine 2

I’ve played through the original Warhammer: Space Marine twice, just because it’s that good. A no-nonsense authentic Warhammer experience, Warhammer 2 looks to be just what the Warhammer 40K community needs right now: a proper game.

I was already super excited for Space Marine 2, but the Summer Game Fest video reminded me of the awesome multiplayer present in the first game. This makes the multiplayer for Space Marine 2 incredibly promising, especially as you get to play with Chaos marines. I wonder if there’ll be the whole ensemble of Gods…

There is no other service as good as the Space Marine series for serving the Emperor, and I’m so excited to jump into this new game. All hail the Emperor.

Wanderstop

Wanderstop has got to be one of the most intriguing games revealed at the Summer Game Fest. Playing as a fighter desperately trying to be content with the peaceful life of making and serving tea is such an interesting and unique premise.

The visual style is super smooth and the cast of characters seem to be endearing and colorful. I feel like the world of Wanderstop will be just as fun to explore as the gameplay itself, which seems simple yet satisfying.

Considering that it’s made by the same mind behind The Stanley Parable, I’m even more excited for this title.

Cuffbust

At long last, my childhood of watching Minecraft Cops and Robbers can be brought to life in Cuffbust. This game looks mental, in all the best ways. It seems escaping prison is secondary to the hijinks and mayhem, which I’m all here for.

Cuffbust is made by only one person, so to see the array of interactions with the world and each other is incredibly impressive. It looks like every game will be distinct from the last as you and your friends perform increasingly unhinged actions.

This is one of those games that when played with friends will create lifelong memories. And I’ll happily jump in with my friends.

Mecha Break

Seasun Games

I’m not usually fan of mech games, or even online battle games, but Mecha Break looks awesome. High-octane and fast-paced, Mecha Break is looking to deliver the experience for mech warfare than such fans have been waiting such a long time for.

From the sleek combat to the rapid flying to the rich customisation and construction, being able to construct your own personal mech and bring it to the field of battle is something I’m very much looking forward to.

Mecha Break will likely bring back mech games to the modern gaming market. And I’m here for it.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 looks like an incredibly rich experience. To this day, the first Kingdom Come Deliverance gets mentioned and recommended loads, and this sequel looks worthy of the praise of the first one.

So many gamers these days are looking for an authentic medieval fix that the modern gaming scene just is rarely giving. So I reckon that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will provide what so many people have been pining for. It’ll be a Holy Grail, if you will.

i myself and among that crowd, so I’ll be riding into Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 when it comes out.

Batman Arkham Shadow

Looks like we’re stepping into Gotham again, literally thanks to Meta Quest 3. Despite the huge range of Batman games that are out there today, I don’t believe the Rat King has come up once. Batman Arkham Shadow is looking to be an incredibly interesting and darkly beguiling experience. If those are the right words.

Although I’m just stepping into the Batman Arkham series (I know it shouldn’t have taken so long, I’m sorry), I’m super excited for this next entry. It is canon to the Arkham series, so I better get those other games before it comes out.

Even though I don’t have a VR Headset, I’m ready to step into the shadows.

I can’t wait to play these incredible games showcased at the Summer Game Fest, and I’m sure you can’t wait either.
