In Memoriam

AERA members who have recently passed away
Ronald Heck, 71, died on January 11. He was a professor and chair of the department of educational administration in the College of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Heck served as an associate editor of the American Educational Research Journal and was a member of Division A—Administration, Organization, and Leadership and Division H—Research, Evaluation, and Assessment in Schools. Read more

Dawn M. Horton, 63, died on April 30. She was an assistant professor in school counseling and associate director of the Center for School Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation in the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Horton was a member of Division E—Counseling and Human Development. Read more

Patricia A. Somers, 73, died on March 10. She was an associate professor in the department of educational leadership and policy in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Somers was a member of Division I—Education in the Professions, Division J—Postsecondary Education, and Division L—Educational Policy and Politics. Read more
