what does this mean? will they in tournaments be representing vitality in their team section and wear vitality jersies and onsyde be more of a clan? or is it still all onsyde and just like, vitality owning them is a behind the scenes thing.

AKA Voltz. Have a very blessed day, and remember that we all come from a place of passion!!

The ONSYDE team will also be rebranded to Team Vitality.

gotcha, so they basically just merged and vitality had the bigger agar.io blob so they ate them. interesting. gamers8 seems really beneficial to the players in more than just the big prize pool! also all these signings has to get other teams looking at the game again. a general esports ;recession; has smaller games looking more appealing as well.

They got picked up from a known org and somewhat French as well, interesting!

They added the players/team in their new Starcraft 2 section, but you can’t select “Maru” as a player when trying to buy the official jersey yet, hopefully they change that quickly

Honestly I would have expected Vitality going for a more European-centric roster. As a Frenchman I would have thought, DnS, PtitDrogo and similar calibre need a bigger opportunity. If talking about other players from other countries, Gungfubanda, etc.

There’s enough good enough free agents that logistics-wise it would be simpler. But it is probably way simpler in another way to just recruit a ready-made roster, and if you have money to pay them, eh go for it, makes sense.

EDIT : @Waxangel, ah, it makes it a bit different. Still makes sense for Onsyde to partner with a bigger team

I’m just a cynical video game enjoyer who is probably unfazed by many business dealings many would find utterly distasteful, while not strictly illegal by the law as seen in a general sense in the world.

Aight important update with the official Vitality post calling it a partnership. While that can mean many things, it also means it’s definitely not an acquisition or a merger.

AdministratorHey HP can you redo everything youve ever done because i have a small complaint?

On the other hand the French players (except Clem but he is not available ) have no real shot at doing well in the Saudi Arabia World Championship event. Getting such a strong roster is a godsend for Vitality, even though it’s not an acquisition, I would guess that Onsyde/sc2.vitality players results in the event count towards the clubs cup?

Yeah seems like the ONSYDE brand is still at the back of the jersey, but I’m assuming they’ll still all play under the name of Team Vitality

I guess Team Vitality must have checked out the eligibility of this for Esport World Cup before making the move. Then I am watching if the other teams will try to do the same with DKZ and Basilisk.

As a Rocket League fan i can only say this is INSANE.

Also after years of community members appealing during streams and podcasts that SC players are cheap investments for big e-sports organizations someone has finally told them :O :O :O Cloud9, Vitality, Twisted Minds, Talon, NaVi. Who will be next? EG, Astralis?

Interesting for sure, but makes sense. Maru and Solar are both solid pickups, so getting Ryung aswell shouldn’t be too expensive. Not entirely sure what the “partnership” part is when the team (atleast on Liquipedia) just full-on merged/got bought.
Like…we have partnerships in other Esports. Especially PSG likes to “partner” with other orgs (Talon in LoL, LGD and now Quest in DotA2), always having the original name still in the title (e.g “PSG Talon”). So VIT.ONSYDE or something wouldn’t have been uncommon.

Opens up the question who would have the money to “partner” with BASILISK? FaZe and TSM came to mind, but both have financial troubles as far as I know. PSG usually only invests in non-european teams. Maybe SK Gaming or fnatic? Or that clusterfuck of a name from OverActive Media?

EG is literally dead and in the process of completly selling out right now.

This is quite confusing, half the release gives the impression they’re part of the Vitality brand/roster now, half reads that it’s a partnership of some kind.

I’d love to know the specifics of what it entails, are they paying salaries/expenses or is it a purely branding thing for Gamers 8 multi-game prize eligibility?

If the former that’s good and maybe a sign that Gamers 8 will have some knock-on benefits to SC2 after all, if it’s the latter then hey it’s probably a good deal for the players and the org, if not the wider game

These are all interesting moves.
Having a single team to cheer for in all e-sports titles is a bless for the fans. I think promoting this is a very good idea and could actually help grow the fan base not only for “smaller” games as SC2, but also for e-sports as a whole .

Interesting thought, considering that Esports for the past 10-15 years was clearly moving away from that concept.
“Back in the days” most of the really big events were multi-title events. ESWC, WCG, KODE5 etc. You often had atleast Counterstrike and Warcraft, often FIFA aswell, sometimes even a whole roster of titles (like @WCG).
However, with most of these orgs going out of business (and I assume still owing thousands and thousands of prizemoney to players…) and the publishers stepping up big time, we had the opposite, with Riot being at the front of that.

So the idea to bring it back together, not as a competition of nations (like WCG) but for orgs is kinda cool, though I assume this will be the only type of event like this. Not much else room for it in the calendar anymore and I’m not even sure how much for example Riot is ready to give up for this – in the ‘official’ LoL Circuit atleast it has no place or purpose, so I guess the biggest Esport we have will not be a part of it
