Launched on January 10, 2023 in the United States, a project to reduce emissions throughout the North American transportation sector. The project is based on the Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Law in support the goals to secure a 100% clean power grid by 2035 and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The transportation sector—which includes all modes of travel through land, air, and sea to move people and goods—accounts for a third of all US greenhouse gas emissions.
This blueprint comprehends developing and deploying clean-energy technologies such as electric vehicles and hydrogen and sustainable fuels, while also building out the supporting infrastructure for clean transportation, creating good-paying jobs in all segments of the transportation sector while strengthening the country’s energy independence.
The following technological solutions are listed:

electric / battery: including stationary use, grid support, national strategy, infrastructure and recycling

hydrogen: heavy industries, grid support, electrolizer costs, fuel cell durability, infrastructure, ammonia, methanol

sustainable liquid fuels: bio products, decarbonization of plastic / chemicals, cost-effectiveness, bio-energy scale-up, ethanol
Blueprint categorizes the initiatives in terms of “long term opportunity”. Those indicated as “greatest” opportunities are:

“electric light duty vehicles” (49% of 2019 US emissions)

“hydrogen long-haul heavy trucks” (7%)

“maritime sustainable liquid fuels” (3%)

“aviation sustainable liquid fuels” (11%)
