Top 10 Best Builds From Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Date:

Helicarriers, transformable mechs and more have been constructed by the amazing playerbase after just a week of play in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Since Tears of the Kingdom’s massive launch, millions of Zelda fans have been enjoying the hundreds of new features the new release offers. A few of these are creative tools that let you stick two components together. As you might expect, this gave people creative freedom to build whatever they wanted.

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom knocked it out of the park with its brilliant additions to an already beloved Nintendo Switch series, fully utilizing its hardware while simultaneously fostering player creativity to the max.  As a result, the follow-up to Breath of the Wild has thrived internationally, with sales getting past the 10 million threshold in a week, far surpassing 2022’s Game of the Year Elden Ring.

Just days after the release, we’re finally seeing what the playerbase is capable of when you give them some superglue, a few sticks and stones and a universal battery. Here are 10 of the craziest builds Tears of the Kingdom players have made in the game so far:

10 Amazing Tears of the Kingdom Builds

The Trojan Horse

Sometimes modern problems require ancient solutions. In a clip shared by @RobFletch1393, we see Link rolling through the endgame area while hidden inside a hurriedly-constructed wooden mare. And no one suspected a thing.

A Hoverbike

One of the easiest builds in the game is also one of the first ones you can craft. Merely attaching 2 fans on each side of a Steering Stick can give you a pretty sweet ride to get around in Tears of the Kingdom’s early-game. Segway who?

A Monster Truck

Here, Twitter user @Switch_movie_SS showcased their magnum opus: a Hyrulian monster truck decked with spikes and lasers. It is every 13-year old’s dream car, and it’s not even the craziest thing on our list!

A Tank

Simple and effective. Players that get past the Sky Islands can look forward to finding certain cannons they can attach onto certain vehicles to construct a makeshift tank in a pinch. Unfortunately, this build is the least of Ganondorf’s worries.

A Combat Helicopter

Take to the skies with this fully-designed aircraft prepped for war. With a wide base, you can customize Link’s latest war crime with lasers, missiles and exploding barrels. Just keep in mind that there aren’t many helipads in Hyrule.

A Fighter Jet

Bombing runs? In my Legend of Zelda?

Amazingly, the developers proposed to add rocket propulsion in a Legend of Zelda game, and thank the Triforce they left it in.

An Attack Drone Dropship

Mind-blowingly talented creator Max Blumenthal decided to share their latest invention for all the world to see: an attack drone dropship. While ignorant of its moral consequences, this astonishing build consists of a larger aircraft armed with lasers and cannons that shortly  drops a smaller attack drone. The offshoot then engages the enemy on the ground to the sound of aerial bombardment. It leaves nothing in its wake. God help us all.

An Orbital Laser

Ever wanted to melt a boss’ HP bar before it even got close? Try attaching 16 lasers onto a flying rock. Might do the trick if you’re feeling vengeful enough.

A Multi-Stage Rocket

This build comes in clutch whenever your opponent decides to jump into the stratosphere mid-fight (when has that ever happened?). In a viral clip, @videogametrailers_ walked fans through the process of each stage’s activation. Knowing that PC modders have already takern on the noble task of optimizing the game current state, who’s to say that a multiplayer mod isn’t also in the works? So if that time ever comes, save this build for when you and your friends feel like flying together into the forever and beautiful sky.

A Transforming Battle Mech

We’re topping off this list with a transforming battel mech. People online have cowered in the untamed might of this giant Geneva violation. Akin to a mecha you might find in “The Super Dimension Fortress Macross”, Tiktok user @soulbanana0 used blueprints and raw human ingenuity to create a build that could transform a fighter jet into an all-terrain robot of death and destruction, and vice versa.

Honorable Mention

Long Bridges

Despite not being as flashy or deadly as the rest of the entries on this list, we couldn’t help but highlight the absurdly long bridges players have been using to get around temple puzzles and sheer cliffs. If it’s stupid but it works, it ain’t stupid.
