Overwatch 2: Indepth Overview of All New Battle for Olympus Abilities

Date:

Everything you need to know about Overwatch 2’s new Battle for Olympus Abilities.

After announcing it in late 2022, the Battle for Olympus event in Overwatch 2 is finally here. This thing will last for a couple of days before Blizzard decides to remove it, so if you want to get your hand on some of the new skins, now is the time to do so.

Speaking of skins, they are definitely the main attraction and the main reason why some people want to play. That said, Blizzard decided to advertise them heavily by allowing people to go straight to the shop as soon as launching the game. Previously, the company always added a shortcut to the new event so that people could put it to the test.

Whether Blizzard’s idea will pay off is too early to tell, but until we find out, it is time to take an in-depth look at all of the hero changes. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, look at our Battle for Olympus overview, where we cover the basic things you should know about the event.

Ramattra

The newest Overwatch 2 tank is included in the game’s event, and he has the role of Poseidon. The God of the Seas has an ability called Divine Annihilation, which lasts for 20 seconds. When used, he creates a large vortex that pulls enemies and launches them upward.

While doing these, you can also throw large water blasts that will travel faster and deal more damage. In other words, Ramattra’s ability works similarly to Sigma’s ultimate. It might not be the most exciting ability in Overwatch 2’s Battle for Olympus, but it can do a lot of damage when used correctly.

Junker Queen

Battle for Olympus has one main “character”, and that is Junker Queen. Strangely, she has the role of Zeus, which is the most popular and powerful God in Greek mythology.

Even though people expected to see more changes, Blizzard decided to add two small things to her ultimate. If you decide to pick Junker Queen in the Battle for Olympus, you will have access to Divine Rampage. This ability lasts for 25 seconds, and during that time, any damage she deals with her Scattergun can apply additional lightning damage to her other abilities.

In other words, if the RNG is on your side, you can seriously damage all opponents. There are a couple of videos where JQ rips through all of her enemies, so it is safe to say that this is one of the strongest ults so far.

Reinhardt

We were really excited when we learned that Reinhardt would have a role in the Battle for Olympus because he is a hero that Blizzard can do a lot. Although we expected more, his new ability called Divine Earthshatter is pretty good.

When used, this ability lasts for 20 seconds. During that time, Rein gets 300 HP, as well as the ability to heal when he charges and slams a hero into a wall. Speaking of charging, this ultimate allows him to pin as many as 3 targets, and the ability itself only has a 4seconds cooldown.

If you manage to pin a target to a wall, you will do lethal damage and extend your divine power. On top of that, this will also make your charge on a 0.5s cooldown, which means you can keep charging heroes.

Roadhog

Every Overwatch 2 player is aware that Roadhog is one of the best tanks in the game right now. Considering his popularity, we weren’t surprised that Blizzard decided to add him to the Battle for Olympus Overwatch 2 game. Hog’s role in the new mode is to represent Cyclops, a powerful being that is known for having one eye.

His new ability is called Divine Whole Hog, increasing the hero’s size, which means he gets a 600 bonus HP. The ultimate lasts for 15 seconds, and during that time, he will throw a massive rock that will deal damage. Aside from that, the hero’s melee damage will push away enemies, and each attack will deal 5x damage.

Although the ultimate might not seem special on paper, it is devastating against squishy targets.

Pharah

Pharah’s role in the Overwatch 2 Battle for Olympus mode is to represent Hades. Despite the fact that she is one of the squishy heroes, her ability, Divine Rocket Barrage, makes her one of the most dangerous opponents on the battlefield.

This ability increases her HP to 300, lasts for 15 seconds, and allows her to move while using her ult. On top of that, her Rocket Launcher will fire 3-headed rockets, and the Jump Jet’s fuel consumption is a lot less than before.

Lastly, if Pharah lands a kill during her ult, it will extend the ability’s duration and heal her.

Widowmaker

Speaking of squishy heroes in the Battle for Olympus Overwatch 2 event, we have to mention Widowmaker, a.k.a Medusa. Besides having one of the most interesting new skins in the game, her Divine Infra-Sight makes her incredibly dangerous.

People who decide to pick this hero and use her ult will have the ability to turn enemies who look at her into stone. Furthermore, Divine Infra-Sight increases Widowmaker’s HP to 400 and allows her to do bonus damage. We’re not sure about how much extra damage you can do, but the truth is that she can two-shot even the tanks.

Lucio

Finally, we have the last hero in the Battle for Olympus – Lucio. He has the role of Hermes, which is not a surprise, considering that he is one of the most mobile heroes in Overwatch 2.

If you decide to put him to the test, your ultimate will last 20 seconds and give you several other perks. For example, you will have the chance to jump again after jumping off a wall and get extra attack and movement speed.

Lucio’s ultimate will also give him infinite ammo, as well as the ability to Boop enemies into walls. Doing this will inflict extra damage and stun the target.

Other Changes

Besides the new abilities that heroes have to work with, the Battle for Olympus has a couple of other interesting things to keep an eye on. For example, there are some minor map changes, such as having access to green HP packs as well as golden capsules. The latter is really important because they will give you the ultimate charge.

Another interesting aspect related to the Battle for Olympus is that the hero with the most kills will receive a special statue. Of course, there are also all kinds of challenges related to the new event, such as the one that will give you Mercy’s skin for free if you win 6 games.
