I went through the agenda to highlight some of my recommendations for sessions to go and see.

February 5th

Being based in Europe, I would recommend the session by HIDC, which will get you up to speed on what is happening on this side of the ocean.

Supply Chain Innovations – A European Perspective presented by HIDC
Supply chain innovation is picking up speed in Europe due to scarcity of land and labor. While innovations in supply chains globally share the common goals of improving efficiency, resilience, and sustainability, differences in market conditions, regulatory landscapes and cultural factors lead to variations in the focal points of these innovations across the world. The European continent, with its diverse markets, intricate regulatory environments and elaborate multi-modal transportation networks, has its own unique challenges as well as successes in the field of supply chain innovation. During this session, our panelists, representing a number of European companies that stand at the forefront of this wave of innovation, will present a unique perspective and hands-on experience of supply chain innovation in Europe.

So much data is available, but how do you leverage your data to strengthen your brand? As a content marketer, I’m curious about this one.

How To Make Your Data Work for You — What You Should and Shouldn’t Do presented by Charlie Pesti
Supply chain technologies generate a myriad of data points on a daily basis. Hidden underneath these interconnected data webs could be trends, invaluable analytics and actionable insights for the media and the industry at large. This panel will discuss how to unearth these data points, how to package them for the media and the industry and how to position your brand’s leadership as industry thought leaders time and again.

I can see the Port of Rotterdam from my office window, knowing that 90% of the things you see around you have been in a container.

I started my logistics career as a warehouse engineer, and my love for large, high buildings with almost no windows is still strong. I recommend the session on warehouse technology and automation with people like Erez Agmoni, the Global Head of Innovation at Maersk, and Scott Gravelle, the Founder of Attabotics.

Automation, Warehouse Tech & Partnerships – Evaluating What Works Best
Adapting automation/tech for portions of your business that make sense is the key to efficient implementation. It doesn’t need to be an all or nothing proposition since certain tech might not work for all of your business, but it might work for certain areas. Shipping, automation technology and supply chain giants take the stage to share their insights on innovation within the 4 walls and how to develop partnerships that ensures both sides win between vendor and customer.

Good people are hard to find, especially in the supply chain and logistics industry. So, how do you develop the people you have, and how do you take diversity into account? If you enable your employees to grow, they will be happy and stay. They may even tell others how much fun they are having and pique their interest…

DEI – How Are We Prioritizing the Growth of Our Employees?
Supply chain leaders understand that prioritizing the growth of their employees and fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace isn’t just a moral imperative; it’s also a strategic advantage. Diverse perspectives drive innovation, improve problem-solving, and lead to more effective decision-making within the complex landscape of supply chain. Learn how these leaders are implementing robust training, mentorship and development programs while investing in upskilling and reskilling initiatives to ensure that their workforce stays updated with the latest technologies and methodologies across the end-to-end value chain.

Who doesn’t love drones? I do. They can be used for many different parts of the total logistics chain. While many know them as a last-mile solution, they also have a huge potential for middle-mile transportation.

Revolutionary Tech From Middle Mile To Last Mile
Imagine a world where drones and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles move your goods from port to DC to the end customer, all while leveraging transformative software that keeps it all connected, flexible and agile. Well you don’t have to dream anymore since the leadership of these next-gen technology companies will evaluate real use cases and address implementation to reduce cost, enhance proximity and improve delivery speed.

Sustainability and ESG should be high on any business agenda. Transporting freight significantly impacts the global carbon footprint, so electrifying fleets would put a nice dent in that footprint…

A company improving last-mile delivery for years with an innovative positioning system is what3words. I wrote about them a few years ago. I would check out their presentation.

Fleet Electrification – Actioning on Commitments
Explore the roadmap to fleet electrification, where action meets commitment. This panel will evaluate crucial aspects: assessing costs, gauging availability and scalability, navigating infrastructure technology, and overcoming regulatory hurdles.

10:55am Room 224-227

Innovation to the Last 10 Feet
what3words is a precise address system – with a grid of 57 trillion 10ft squares, each square is labelled with 3 words from the dictionary. Customers use it to specify an exact entrance to a building for a delivery, or to tag safe-space locations to leave packages. Used by DHL, DPD, Aramex and other delivery companies around the world, what3words decreases time spent in the final mile locating the doorstep or entrance, and helps customers get their packages to exactly the right place. Clare Jones is the Chief Commercial Officer of what3words and will share some case studies of the tech in action and what it could mean for the future of autonomous delivery.
