5 Things to Watch in College Football Week 10

Date:

College football is now in full swing. There are always things to watch every week of the season. Here are 5 things to watch in college football week 10.

1. LSU at Alabama

Last season, LSU pulled off the upset of Alabama at home. This year they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide. LSU has two losses on the season, which were to Florida State and Ole Miss. Their defense has had some issues, specifically in the secondary, but their offense scores 47.4 points per game. Look for quarterback Jayden Daniels to impact the game with his arm and his legs.

Alabama still has only lost to Texas this season. Their defense has played great, but their offense has been inconsistent. Jalen Milroe has taken some steps forward and like Daniels, can help his offense with his legs. Dallas Turner has been great defensively on the edge and will have to pressure the quarterback to help Alabama get the win. There is a lot at stake in this game, as both teams are vying to represent the SEC West in the SEC Championship Game.

2. Washington at USC

A game that had a lot of preseason hype was Washington traveling to USC to take on the Trojans. Washington has one of the best offenses in the country which scores over 40 points per game. They have had some hiccups as of late, but Michael Penix has had a fantastic season. The defense has played decently and allows 20.6 points per game.

USC also has a high-powered offense that averages 45.7 points per game. Their defense has had their struggles this season and allows 32.6 points per game. Caleb Williams has not had a good enough season to repeat as a Hesiman-winner. USC will be underdogs because of their defense, but their offense could help pull off an upset if the game is a shootout.

3. Missouri at Georgia

Georgia has won two straight national championships and has not had many struggles along the way. They are undefeated this season and haven’t been seriously tested by a quality team. Their offense struggled early, but has now settled down and average 41.6 points per game. The defense is stout as usual, giving up just 14.6 points per game. They look well on their way to another SEC Championship Game and CFP.

In week 10, the Bulldogs host the Missouri Tigers. Last season, Missouri took Georgia to the wire, as the Tigers lost 26-22. This season, Missouri actually has a better team with a 7-1 record. The tough part will be winning on the road. Their offense scores 33.9 points per game, while the defense allows 23.3 points per game. They will have to get a great performance from wide receiver Luther Burden, who is one of the most talented players at his position in the country. If they do, the Tigers could pull off an upset.

4. Bedlam

Conference realignment will see some games go and Bedlam is one of them. This is the last scheduled meeting between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Sooners enter the game after coming off their first loss of the season to Kansas. Their offense is one of the best in the country, averaging 41.9 points per game. The defense is much improved this season, as they allow 18.2 points per game. Winning this game will allow Oklahoma to stay in good position to make the Big 12 Championship Game and possibly the CFP.

Oklahoma State started off this season shaky. They were 2-2 with a loss to South Alabama, but have since won four games in a row. The Cowboys score 31.1 points per game and they have found a star in running back Ollie Gordon. The defense concedes 24.4 points per game, but are coming off a good performance against Cincinnati. Oklahoma State would love to have the Sooners leave the conference with one last loss to their in-state rivals.

5. Michigan’s First Game Since Sign Stealing Was Public Knowledge

Michigan had a bye last week and it was probably needed. Reports came out that staffer Connor Stalions was suspended with pay amid an investigation into a sign-stealing operation. This includes Michigan buying tickets to future opponents’ games and recording the sideline. A lot has to be figured out with the whole situation, but it has been in the headlines a lot.

This week, Michigan will have to focus as they host Purdue. The Boilermakers only have two wins this season, but they have a history of playing well against top-five opponents. If Michigan can win the game, it will get things back on track for the tougher schedule at the end of the season.
