Date:

Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov, the carry for Entity Gaming, now boasts both of the top two spots in the European Dota 2 rankings

Alimzhan “Watson” Islambekov from Entity Gaming maintaining the top spot in the European Dota 2 rankings isn’t surprising, considering his prolonged dominance in this position for an extended period. His secondary account, Egoisto, has now also remarkably surged to claim the esteemed second position, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his primary account.

Watson Claims The Top Two Spots In European Dota 2 Rankings With Primary and Secondary Accounts

Between November 12 and 20, Watson logged 9 matches on his primary account and 16 on his alternative one, according to data from Dota 2.com. While his primary account reflected a win rate of 33%, his secondary account boasted a significantly higher win rate of 56%.

During this timeframe, Faceless Void stood out as the most frequent hero choice for the Entity carry. Surprisingly, despite Watson’s consistent use of this hero, victory consistently slipped away, resulting in a series of defeats without a single win attributed to Faceless Void in any of the matches played.

This is not the first time the 21-year-old has achieved such an astounding feat. During The International 2023, he achieved an extraordinary feat by claiming both the first and second positions within the highly competitive American region. He also secured the top spots simultaneously in both the European and North American regions at that time, demonstrating a remarkable ability to excel across multiple regions and tournaments.

Watson’s Remarkable Rise Continues

Alimzhan “Watson” Islambekov has made a significant impact in the Dota 2 arena, establishing himself among the finest carries in the game. Notably, he etched his name in history as the first Kazakhstani player to achieve a top 6 finish at a Dota 2 Major, a milestone he accomplished during the 2023 Lima Major.

After watching the Free To Play documentary, Watson became a fan of Danil “Dendi” Ishutin. Dendi, a legendary midlaner for NAVI, featured prominently in the documentary, alongside other notable pioneers such as Clinton “Fear” Loomis and Benedict “hyhy” Lim.

The documentary encouraged watson to play as a midlaner, but after hitting the 10K MMR mark, he realized that transitioning to a carry position would offer a more promising career path than continuing as a midlaner.

“I was a mid player when I first started in Dota 2 because I was inspired by Dendi. After I reached 10K MMR, everyone was so good at mid and I swapped to carry in 2016. Then I fully decided to play carry and it’s also because (I was inspired) of Arteezy,” watson told Esports.gg.

At the age of 19, Watson made his debut on an official team, representing the colors of the Kazakhstani organization KHAN. His stint with the team was short-lived, unfortunately, abruptly ending after a month. Watson alleged that he was dismissed because he was labeled solely as a “pub player.”

The early setback could not deter him from continuing as a professional, nonetheless, and his career trajectory has been consistently upward ever since. After impressive stints for B8 and Hell Raisers, he joined Entity in 2023.

Watson’s tenure with Entity became the platform for his first significant achievement, setting the tone for his burgeoning career. Alongside teammates Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau, Tobias “Tobi” Buchner, Vladislav “Kataomi” Semenov, and Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk, watson exhibited resilience in the fiercely competitive Western Europe region.

They narrowly secured a spot in the top 4 after enduring exhaustive tiebreakers – marking Watson’s inaugural invitation to a Dota 2 Major. His arrival at the Lima Major positioned him as an unexpected contender, yet Watson and his team delivered an impressive performance that defied expectations.

Following their impressive top-6 finish at the Lima Major, Entity faced setbacks, experiencing an early elimination in the Riyadh Masters. Subsequently, they encountered further challenges, being eliminated from the lower bracket in both DreamLeague Season 21 and The International. Despite these team struggles, Watson has consistently showcased high-level personal performance, evidenced by his domination of the Dota 2 ladder.
