The game is set in a post-apocalyptic and retrofuturistic dystopian world. The Tragedy Mask in Lethal Company is a new type of scrap item added to the game in the latest update which is Version 45. It looks like a traditional Theatre mask made of ceramic, in the typical porcelain white color. Unlike its twin, the Comedy Mask, this one has a scowl on the mouth socket and has frowning or saddened eye sockets, which makes it very creepy looking. It is the first hostile scrap in the game that can be interacted with. Cries are sometimes heard to come from the mask when it is in a player’s inventory, which is even more scary and oftentimes confusing because it makes you think a Masked is nearby. 

Now, what exactly is a Masked? It is the entity that is created when a player is possessed by any of the masks in the game. When a player picks up the Tragedy Mask in the game, they have the option to put it on their face. Once they do however put the mask on, they cannot take it off and within 5 seconds, they are killed. There is a 65% chance that after a player puts on a mask, within every 5 seconds they will be killed. Another interesting thing is the mask turns into its twin, the Comedy Mask when possessing the player and stays that way when they turn into a Masked.

After killing the player, the mask possesses their dead body and becomes a Masked which then stalks other players and turns them into the same entity as well. Masked can also spawn on their own, without possessing a player. They are dangerous creatures as they kill a player as soon as they grab them.

However, the catch here is that the mask scrap item only spawns on 4 moons in the game. This is because the entity that the mask creates, the Masked can only spawn on these 4 moons.
