NFL Draft Prospects in the 2023 Peach Bowl

Date:

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2023 Peach Bowl.

Ole Miss Rebels Draft Prospects

Cedric Johnson, EDGE

Johnson joined Ole Miss in 2020 as a three-star prospect. He started contributing in a major way in 2021. In his career, he has racked up 111 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 19 sacks. This season, he has registered 40 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.

At 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Johnson may not have the best length, but has good size for his frame. His pass-rushing production over his career warrants getting looks in the middle to late rounds of the draft. He has some eligibility left if he wants to try an improve his stock.

Projected Draft Range: 4th Round Pick-6th Round Pick

Daijahn Anthony, S

Anthony has had a unique college career that started at Shepherd University at the D-II level. He then transferred to Liberty for two seasons before moving on to Ole Miss for the 2023 season. In his FBS career, he has 99 total tackles, 13 passes defended and five interceptions. This season, Anthony has tallied 58 tackles, two interceptions and seven passes defended.

He is 6-foot and 205, which is solid size for an NFL safety. Anthony has plenty of experience and has shown good ball skills in his career. He may have to prove that he can contribute on special teams to make a roster, but could be drafted.

Projected Draft Range: 5th Round Pick-7th Round Pick

Other Draft Prospects: WR Tre Harris (6th-UFA), WR Jordan Watkins (UFA), DL Tywone Malone (UFA), DL JJ Pegues (UFA), S Ladarius Tennison (UFA), EDGE Khari Coleman (UFA), LB Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste (UFA), CB Deantre Prince (UFA), OT Jeremy James (UFA), RB Ulysses Bentley IV (UFA), TE Caden Prieskorn (UFA), QB Spencer Sanders (UFA)

Penn State Nittany Lions Draft Prospects

Olu Fashanu, OT

Fashanu signed with Penn State in 2020, but did not see any game action. In 2021, he saw limited playing time. For the 2022 season, Fashanu stepped into the starting lineup and impressed, helping the Nittany Lions win 11 games. He could’ve been selected early had he entered the 2023 NFL Draft, but returned to school and proved to be one of the best left tackles in the country.

At 6-foot-6 and 317 pounds, Fashanu has excellent size, strength and length for an NFL offensive tackle. With his size, he also has good athletic ability and flexibility. Fashanu could opt out of this game, as he has already put himself in good position to be a top-five pick.

Projected Draft Range: Top 10 Pick

Kalen King, CB

King joined Penn State in 2021 and was immediately thrust into action. In his career, he has totaled 80 total tackles, 25 passes defended and three interceptions. For the 2023 season, he has 29 total tackles and two passes defended.

He won’t be the biggest corner at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds. King will need to add strength to provide more physical coverage. He also won’t have the length to contest catches against bigger wide receivers. King has shown the ability to mirror receivers well and has built his draft stock up well.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick

*EDGE Chop Robinson has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected first or second-round pick.

*TE Theo Johnson has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected late-round pick.

Other Draft Prospects: EDGE Adisa Isaac (3rd-5th), CB Johnny Dixon (4th-6th), LB Curtis Jacobs (6th-UFA), OT Landon Tengwall (UFA), WR Keandre Lambert-Smith (UFA), TE Tyler Warren (UFA), OT Caeden Wallace (UFA), WR Dante Cephas (UFA), IOL Hunter Nourzad (UFA)
