The recent Like A Dragon Direct just wrapped a few hours ago and instead of showing us more of its upcoming prequel Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (which you learn all about here). Instead, they showed off their next title, the already-announced Like A Dragon 8: Infinite Wealth.

Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Story

Like A Dragon 8 is the first mainline title since the release of Like a Dragon 7 in 2020 which marked a new beginning from the series. The story continues the tale of wannabe hero and all-around good guy Ichiban Kasuga who is now hailed as the hero of Yokohama. But just like the previous protagonist Kiryu, Ichiban just can’t escape the Japanese Underworld.

First, he loses his job, his reputation gets tarnished and after following a clue that might lead him to find his long-lost mother sends him all the way to Hawaii of all places, he gets robbed. The guy can’t catch a break. But Ichiban like always knows how to pick himself up.

This marks the first time the series leaves Japan and is set in the vibrant isles of Hawaii. Here Ichiban has to contest with the local thugs, Yakuza all the way out there, and whoever set him up. But he isn’t alone, his friends and former protagonist Kiryu Kazuma are there to help him out.

Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Gameplay

After Judgement, Lost Judgement, and the upcoming Like A Dragon Gaiden made a return to the action combat of the old day, Infinite Wealth will continue the new Dragon Quest-inspired combat from Like A Dragon 7.

Characters will once again be able to select from an array of colorful jobs and abilities and team up to take on the degenerates of the underworld. But you’re not here for the combat, you’re here for the minigames and surreal nonsense. And don’t worry, Infinite Wealth got those.

Ever wanted to be a Ubereats delivery rider? Surf? Fight a gigantic shark? Maybe you want to collect all the local degenerates like Pokemon and become the greatest trainer in all of Japan and Hawaii. And that is just the pinnacle of what we assume will be a stuffed Yakuza game.

Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Release Date

LAD: Infinite Wealth is expected to be released on January 26, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. This is only a few months after the release of Like A Dragon Gaiden on November 8, 2023.

It also launches into a stacked lineup of Japanese games in February including Persona 3 Reload, Granblue Fantasy Relink, and FF7 Rebirth. Fans of Japanese games will be eating well early next year.
