First official gameplay trailer for Life is Strange: Remastered Collection

Date:

The iconic story of love, loss and struggling to understand the trials of life is a timeless one. And with game series’ like Life is Strange, that’s a pretty big theme, and it handles them pretty well. The franchise has gone through a lot of iteration over the years, but the original story of Max and Chloe trying to save the world, and themselves, remains a high point. Life is Strange: Remastered Collection will bring the story back home, with all new flair and style. It will include remastered versions of Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

The core focus on the remaster is to make it truly shine on modern PCs and consoles.  This new version will render in native 4K, and has a mountain of visual improvements piled on. With Unreal Engine 4 powering the remaster, everything is getting a rework in some way.

On the more technical side of things, a lot has been redone. There are new textures that have been fully scaled up for higher resolutions. Shaders and the lighting engine got a total overhaul, making the world of Arcadia Bay positively glow. All of this will be combined with character models that feature more emotive and expressive animation, more natural hair physics, and updated tears, injuries, and more.

Life Is Strange Remastered Collection is set to launch on February 1 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will be playable through backward compatibility on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There will be a Switch port coming at a later date.

You can check all this and more out in the gameplay trailer below. The five-minute sneak peak revealed the enhanced versions of the first two games in the series, Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before the Storm. Life is Strange: Remastered Collection will release on February 1st, 2022.
