Daron Payne Re-signs With Commanders on 4-Year, $90 Million Deal

The Washington Commanders have re-signed defensive tackle Daron Payne to a four-year, $90 million contract according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Payne, 25, played on the franchise tag last season. The former first-round pick by the Commanders made the Pro Bowl in 2022 with 64 total tackles, 11.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. In his career, Payne has 291 total tackles, 40 tackles for loss and 26 sacks in his career.

The deal will reset the defensive tackle market, as Payne is now the highest paid player in the league at the position. Of the $90 million, $60 million is guaranteed.
