Big Changes to Bruiser and ADC Items Are Planned With LoL Patch 13.2

Date:

The new set of changes will be available for testing on PBE, starting Monday.

The new season for League of Legends started just this week, but we are already getting some massive changes to itemization options with the second patch of the season. These changes are mainly focused on two classes, bruisers and ADCs. While the latter player base has been complaining for a while that the role feels really bad to play and doesn’t have a lot of options when it comes to their item build paths, the rest of the players were unhappy about the power levels of bruisers.

While there weren’t any changes done for these during the preseason or with the lunch of Season 2023, the dev team is quick to take a look at the problem. Many of the planned changes will hit the live servers with LoL patch 13.2, and most of these changes are already on PBE or will be there on Monday.

Bruisers will lose access to excessive amounts of ability haste

With changes done in the preseason, and also Season 2022, bruisers got access to a lot of ability haste, and were quickly becoming a problem during teamfights. Combined with the excessive amount of omnivamp they can get with their kits or items, dealing with bruisers or fighters during the mid game has become a nightmare.

The planned changes were posted on Twitter by Tim ‘Truexy’ Jiang, a Game Designer on the Summoner’s Rift Balance Team. According to Truexy, these changes are aimed at bruisers who can go in 1v3 and survive through sustain while they can get multiple rotations of their spells off. With 13.2, many of the most commonly bought items will offer less ability haste and will offer lifesteal, instead of omnivamp.

More rune and itemization choices for ADCs in LoL patch 13.2

Another class that will see improvements to their itemization is the AD Carries. These changes are made by David “Phreak” Turley, the newest member of the Balance Team and the former LCS caster. Phreak was already known for his patch breakdowns on Youtube, so he also published his list of changes to his channel. Phreak also said that these changes aren’t being made because the ADC role is necessarily weak, but to improve the player perception and feel towards it is not in a good spot.

The two main changes that will be featured in patch 13.2 are the shielding buffs to Overheal rune and Bloodthirster, along with the lowered crit chance thresholds of the marksmen capstone items. Coupled with some mana regen and mana pool buffs, the hope is to make ADCs rely less on the Presence of Mind rune and give them some other options during rune selection. And with ADCs being able to buy their IE or Navori as second items, they should also have a lot more choices when it comes to their itemization during mid to late game.
