Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas, a community supporting web3 adoption in the Philippines announced the start of its annual Roadtrip from April to July 2024 with the goal of bringing web3 closer to Filipinos at the grassroots level.

This year, the Roadtrip will be visiting six locations for over four months where attendees will have the opportunity to learn about web3, play new games, and meet fellow community members.

According to the organizers, each leg of the Roadtrip will include meet-and-greets, game demos, competitive matches, and a live rendition of the Discord show Crypto Fiesta. There will also be educational sessions by Web3 Metaversity, covering cryptocurrency, blockchain, and trading fundamentals.
Among the participating exhibitors are web3 games such as Arena of Faith (AOF) and Sipher, game developer Delabs Games, game asset producer BreederDAO, cryptocurrency exchange Coins.ph, and web3 mobile infrastructure provider Jambo.
Web3 Adoption Bounces Back
In a statement, Mench Dizon, YGG Pilipinas Country Head, highlighted how web3 gaming has presented numerous opportunities for low-income individuals in the Philippines. Dizon emphasizes that many fellow Filipinos have managed to recover from the pandemic’s impact through web3 games.
“We want to ensure that every community in the Philippines has an opportunity to participate in this economy. The YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip is one of the ways we can teach new, future-oriented skills to the young, tech-savvy people in our provinces. Anyone, regardless of who they are or where they live, can access web3. Our kababayan from the provinces could be the next leaders, founders and creators in this emerging industry.”

YGG Pilipinas highlighted that the event is supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), specifically in collaboration with DICT Region IV-A (Calabarzon) and DICT Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to engage more students. The Roadtrip is also sponsored by Delabs Games, Stables, Sipher, Arena of Faith, BreederDAO, Jambo, Carv.io and OP Games.
Location Specific Activities
In the Batangas leg, YGG Pilipinas Campaign Director John Sedano and YGG Pilipinas Community Lead Spraky will be present as Web3 Metaversity mentors, alongside other community leaders and key opinion leaders (KOLs). A 45-minute stage program will explore the topic “Building Communities and Finding Careers in Web3,” featuring speakers such as YGG Pilipinas Community Manager Syl, YGG Scholarship Manager and Coordinator Kuya Kevs, and web3 content creator Munchies.
The Baguio leg will have Spraky and YGG Lead Game Ambassador Miccolo as Web3 Metaversity mentors, with sessions focused on “Leading a Community That Matters” featuring speakers like YGG Head Coach and Asset Manager Nate and YGG Guild Advancement Program (GAP) Ambassador and web3 content creator Kookoo.
Additionally, the farming game Pixels will take center stage in a live demonstration during the Batangas and Baguio stops of the Roadtrip.
What is YGG Roadtrip?
The YGG Roadtrip is a nationwide initiative of the web3 gaming guild YGG that aims to bridge the gap between web3 technology and the Filipino community.
According to YGG, by journeying to different regions, the Roadtrip endeavors to unite Filipino gamers and introduce them to the innovative opportunities presented by web3.
In 2022, one of its first Roadtrip destinations was in Baguio City where it was divided into two parts: The YGG Roadtrip Tournament and YGG Event.
