Wiliot has announced that its ambient IoT Pixels and Visibility Platform have earned a spot on TIME’s list of the Best Inventions of 2023.

At the heart of Wiliot’s success lies IoT Pixels: tiny, self-powered computing devices that come at low cost. These IoT Pixels possess the ability to attach to virtually any object, from everyday items like fruits, clothes, and vaccine vials, to more expensive assets such as cars and shipping containers.

Once attached, IoT Pixels enable real-time transmission of crucial information—including location, temperature, humidity, and even carbon footprint.

The significance of Wiliot’s achievement resonates profoundly in today’s world, where sustainability and environmental consciousness are paramount. By empowering businesses with real-time, item-level data, Wiliot equips them to make informed decisions that reduce carbon emissions and enhance supply chain sustainability.

Antony Yousefian, VP of Climate & Circularity at Wiliot, said: “Inefficiencies and waste across supply chains have a significant impact on the planet.

“Wiliot addresses these inefficiencies by creating an ambient IoT that brings intelligence and internet connectivity to every single ‘thing’ in the global supply chain, enabling products to transmit item-level information about their location, temperature, and carbon footprint..”

TIME’s selection process considers factors such as originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact. The result is a list of 200 groundbreaking inventions that are reshaping how we live, work, and think about what is possible.

Beyond reducing carbon emissions, Wiliot’s Visibility Platform is driving significant advancements in various sectors. In collaboration with major companies, Wiliot is facilitating the transition to fully automated, transparent supply chains.

Apparel firms are embracing this technology to create circular economies for clothing products, while pharmaceutical companies leverage it to maintain medicine efficacy. Additionally, Wiliot is aiding food producers and retailers in complying with new FDA traceability rules, enhancing food safety and quality.

Wiliot’s accolades extend to prestigious awards from renowned organisations, including the VIP Award from NRF, the GLOMO Award from MWC, and the Cool Vendor Award from Gartner. Their invitation to COP 27 further underscores their impact on climate change and sustainable practices.

This recognition not only celebrates Wiliot’s innovation but also highlights the transformative potential of IoT technology in fostering a more sustainable future.
