Vondel offers players a brand new locale for their DMZ endeavors. There are new questlines, like searching for Detonators and Dead Drops for the various factions. Dead Drops aren’t displayed on the map, and fumbling around with a valuable item to extract is a sure way to get sniped. With this in mind, let me show you the Vondel Zoo and Phalanx Dead Drop locations in Warzone 2 DMZ.

Both Vondel Zoo and Phalanx Dead Drops are circled in the picture above. Phalanx is to the North, and Vondel Zoo is to the South. These Dead Drops are part of the Icebreaker Quest for the Black Mous. Icebreaker is unlocked when you reach Level 6 with the faction. As it’s an early quest, expect a lot of traffic in these areas at the start of the season.
Even if you’ve not got a quest that asks you to visit a Dead Drop, it’s still worth memorizing their locations. Just because you don’t need them doesn’t mean another squad doesn’t. You can use map knowledge to your advantage and push players who are trying to use the Dead Drop or keep at a safe distance.
Vondel Zoo Dead Drop location
Vondel Zoo is to the Southwest and is usually crawling with enemies. There’s a Stronghold nearby, so watch your position on the map if you’re trying to avoid combat.

The Dead Drop is in this Dumpster and is easily accessible from the road to the West. The wall I’ve circled is easy to scale from the other side, and you can use a couple of small boxes to hop over.
Phalanx Dead Drop location
The Phalanx Dead Drop is to the Northwest, just North of the Graveyard. The biggest issue with this location is it’s very close to a potential Exfil. If that wasn’t bad enough, it’s an exposed area next to the main road, and enemies frequently spawn nearby.

The Dead Drop is in this Dumpster (pictured above) out in the open for everyone to see. Naturally, you want to be in and out of this area quickly, especially if you’re doing the Icebreaker quest.
I’m new to DMZ. Why should I bother with a Dead Drop?
Dead Drops have niche uses in DMZ. Some Quests require you to drop items at those specific locations, but you rarely need them outside of that. Ditching certain items in Dead Drops lowers the cooldown on your Insured Slot. Still, as the season continues and more players memorize the Dead Drop locations, they are dangerous unless you’re itching for a fight.
