SA farming history up for grabs – but it doesn’t come cheap!

Mentioned in countless travel blogs, the 1999-built property is best known for its unusual art installation – a six toilet dunny tree – said to have been established by John and Raelene Rowe to provide a talking point among neighbours.

It’s something they succeeded in, according to their son Phil.

“My dad had a plumber friend who always had a lot of toilets floating around and he simply wanted to do something with them – create something that looked quite interesting,” he said.

“That really was the bottom line and over the years it’s become a bit of an icon.

“There are often minibuses full of people, small tours that come past and stop to see the dunny tree and my parents have always enjoyed having a chat with them.

“For us, over the years, it’s also been easy to direct people to the house. All we had to say was ‘just head past the dunny tree’.”

Located about an hour’s drive north of Adelaide, the 813sq m property encompasses a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home, a large carport with a remote panel lift door, a domed outdoor patio with adjoining storage shed and a self-contained granny flat with a fully operational cool room, kitchen facilities with pot belly heater, and a bathroom with a separate shower and toilet.

Parham meanwhile, is renowned for its great crabbing and fishing, making the beachside property ideal for retirees or buyers chasing a holiday investment.

“Deciding to sell was a big decision for my parents but they are getting older and live in Broken Hill, which is a long way to travel,” Phil said.

“I, myself, live in Brisbane but have always loved going there a couple of times a year to just chill and relax.

“It’s been a great spot for our family for many years and we’ll definitely miss being able to go there.”

Selling agent Neil Bowden of Raine and Horne Two Wells said he expected strong buyer demand for the property.

Listed for sale via expressions of interest, the property could sell for between $400,000 and $500,000, based on recent sales results on realestate.com.au.

“It’s a nice place and Parham is becoming very popular, so I expect the property will do well,” Mr Bowden said.
