Our Festive Fundraiser: Wrapped – The Carbon Literacy Project

Date:

This giving season, we took part in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge – the UK’s largest match funding campaign!

The challenge ran from the 28th November – 5th December 2023 and was set up to support and provide charities, like ours, with the opportunity to have donations doubled in size and impact, making a true difference as we face the world’s biggest challenges.

With the help of the Christmas Challenge, donations of all sizes had the opportunity to be matched by our supporting organisations – Westford Mill and the Reed Foundation.

Carbon Literacy Goes Global!

For the Christmas Challenge, we launched Carbon Literacy Goes Global – a campaign that supports our wider mission of accelerating Carbon Literacy, and our goal of greater internationalisation in 2024.

After doubling in size last year, our 10th anniversary year, and experiencing another hugely successful year in 2023, we are growing exponentially thanks to the necessary demand for Carbon Literacy, and the support of our generous donors and network throughout the year.

Our work to expand the reach and impact of Carbon Literacy as far and wide as possible, making it accessible to everyone, everywhere, is made possible through your donations. This is more crucial now than ever as the clock ticks in the race against climate change.

That’s why the Christmas Challenge will support the internationalisation of Carbon Literacy in 2024, helping new communities, nations, and global audiences to gain access to essential Carbon Literacy training. To make this a reality, and having celebrated reaching all seven continents in 2023, we aim to work with more nations in each continent, deepen our impact within the nations that are already delivering, and see an increase in the number of Carbon Literate citizens by the end of 2024; all of which will catalyse further climate action on an international scale.

The Results

Thanks to the generous donations from 70 individuals and organisations, in combination with our match funding partners, we are pleased to announce that we have collectively raised £9500 including Gift Aid, to support the acceleration of climate action through Carbon Literacy training, internationally.

As a charity with no core funding, campaigns such as the Christmas Challenge allow us to raise vital funds to continue accelerating the growth of Carbon Literacy, and take the necessary steps towards a zero-carbon.

All funds raised via the Christmas Challenge will go directly towards facilitating the delivery of Carbon Literacy, at scale, internationally.

Thank You

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our festive fundraiser, by reading our story and sharing our campaign, and we would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who kindly donated to our cause. During this giving season, we are blown away by the generosity and spirit of the Carbon Literacy community, and the support we received on our journey towards internationalisation.

We look forward to the accelerated impact we can make in 2024 and into the years to come with your valued support – thank you!
