Dendi’s International Hiatus Prolongs

The spotlight was on Dendi, a former International winner, who was eyeing his first appearance in the competition after five years. Dendi’s team, B8, stood on the brink of reaching The International 2023 (TI12), only to be stopped by nouns. In a commanding grand final, nouns secured victory with a 3-0 scoreline, earning the North American qualifier berth for TI12.

nouns made it to the grand final following a flawless upper bracket journey, while B8 undertook a lengthier route through the lower bracket after stumbling against Wildcard Gaming in the opening round of the upper bracket.

Yet, Dendi’s lineup demonstrated impressive resilience, emerging victorious in five successive elimination series to become one of the last two teams standing.

The matchup didn’t prove overly demanding for nouns, who clearly outperformed their opponents.B8’s most notable threat materialized during game 3, when Dendi took on the role of mid Witch Doctor.

Even as victory seemed within their grasp, B8 opted for an all-out assault on the enemy throne using Faceless Void wielding a Divine Rapier. This strategic move, however, lacked the safeguard of an Aegis, an interesting choice given that Roshan was up for the taking!

Needless to say, that Divine Rapier was dropped quickly and the chance to win the game went away as quickly as it had come.

noun’s Roster Moves Paid Off

This result is bound to ease nouns’ concerns, given their roster shakeups between the season’s ultimate DPC Major (the Bali Major) and the TI12 qualifiers. They enlisted the experienced carry, Héctor Antonio “K1” Rodríguez. Intriguingly, rather than releasing their carry player, they reassigned their former carry to the position 5 position. Despite initial uncertainties about this choice, it seems to have proven beneficial.

Making it to his inaugural TI appearance will undoubtedly be a weight off the shoulders for nouns’ mid laner, Nico “Gunnar” Lopez, who experienced close calls and setbacks in the preceding years.
