A Norton Summit home has been a much loved slice of paradise to Linda and Carmine Russo for more than four decades, but the time has come for someone else to enjoy it.

The couple bought the 1924-built home at 126 Green Valley Rd in 1977, attracted by the sense of space it offered, as well as the room to embrace homesteading and lead a more self-sufficient lifestyle.

“We bought it when we were young and got married and we’ve done extensive renovations to it over the years,” Mrs Russo says.

“It was a fantastic family home and it was a great place for the hobby farm lifestyle.

“We had so many pets and animals – sheep, goats, ducks, chooks, dogs and cats – while enjoying the wildlife that drops in all the time, like koalas, echidnas and birds.

“Plus just the fresh air here, and the peaceful view out over the valley, which is almost always green, was amazing.”

The home has three bedrooms – two with built-ins – an office/study, a spacious family bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and an open-plan dining and living room that opens out to an 11.35m by 3m decked veranda for seamless indoor to outdoor entertainment.

The 1.2ha allotment it sits on features an orchard, natural woodland and fenced paddocks.

“It really is a beautiful place to live, and the gardens are just incredible,” Mrs Russo says. “It’s been wonderful for our family and I’m sure another family would love it too.”

The property will go to auction at 12.30pm on November 12.
