Matchday 16: 2022 FIFA World Cup Betting

Date:

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. We are on the last day of the Round of 16. When we first started this round, there were two countries from Asia still present, they both sadly missed out last night. We also had two African countries in this round, one was sent home by England, the other playing tonight.

Africa stands united behind the Moroccan national team and has a chance to do something special if they are to get past Spain. The Spanish youngsters will be looking to make a mark too in this prestigious tournament.

The second game of the night sees Portugal go up against Switzerland in a game that favours the Portuguese to win this pretty comfortably. Bruno Fernandes will be looking to get past the first gear as early as possible as this game will require that of him, the quicker they can put it to bed, the better. This might not work out in Portugal’s favour though, not if Xherdan Shaqiri has anything to say about it. Let’s see how it could all play out.

Morocco (6.6) vs (1.56) Spain

The last African nation standing has a chance to cement their name into the history books forever when they face the European giants tonight. Spain were stunned in their last group match when they lost to Japan in a game that they had pure control over, they just lacked the end product that their opponents had. The Moroccans managed to escape the supposed group of death without a single loss, only drawing one game. Hakim Ziyech will be the player to watch for Morocco as he has been in stunning form. The Chelsea forward managed to win the man of the match award in their group stage game against Belgium and also managed to score in their last game. Alvaro Morata has turned into a formidable force for Spain in this World Cup as he seems to be Coach Enrique’s striker of choice. Spain’s backline could be faulty as the Manchester City midfielder, Rodri is expected to start in the backline. The odds makers have Spain winning this one comfortably, but anything is possible.

Portugal (1.93) vs (4.3) Switzerland

This will be the last of the round of 16 games as Portugal looks to keep Ronaldo’s dream of being a World Champion alive. The Portuguese will face the Swiss in a game that the oddsmakers have Portugal winning comfortably. These are the stages where star power matters, and Portugal have plenty of that. The question for the Swiss will be, can they stop the early onslaught from Portugal’s lethal attackers. Can they get something off a counter attack that can help them bury the game early. Xherdan Shaqiri can expect the pressure to be on his shoulders, and the same can be said for Granit Xhaka. Portugal open as favourites as expected, but the Swiss are looking to cause more than just waves in the footballing world. They are looking to send agony, tears, and sadness to the millions that are in support of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese.
