Pre-Service Science Teachers Play with STEAM
This past month LEARN was invited to facilitate a workshop with four groups of future elementary science teachers at McGill University. Our objective was to make them live STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) in two different activities. LEARN decided it would be best for the pre-service teachers to live STEAM by doing, and in turn they would uncover a mindset of wonder, discovery, and yes thinking and doing as scientists do.

TWO grants available for every school!
The One Day Events and the School Grants are two different grants, with two different purposes.
One Day Events include an artistic performance or installation and an Artist Talk where students can ask questions about the artist’s practice and career path. Events can be a solo or group concert, dance performance, play, live visual art creation, comic jam, story reading, film screening and more! To find artists offering One Day Events, see HERE.
School Grants are intended for students to experience a creative process and make art themselves. Check out our ready-made School Grant workshops in the Elementary and High School Workshops Catalogue, or Connect with an Artist directly for a workshop tailor-made for your students’ needs.
Please note that for administrative purposes (and for our sanity!), these two grants have a different application and feedback form.
School Grant: application form; feedback form
One Day Event: application form; feedback form
