How to find and help Penn at Dueling Peaks Stable in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Date:

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you find yourself roaming the land of Hyrule in a quest to vanquish evil. But no one can do hero things every hour of every day. Sometimes, you also meet with your editor and help him report on recent events. Here is our guide telling you how to find and help Penn at Dueling Peaks Stable in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – how to find and help Penn at Dueling Peaks Stable

When you first talk to Traysi at Lucky Clover Gazette to the east of Rito Village, you accept an ongoing side mission called Potential Princess Sightings! It finds you investigating the various stables you visit, as directed by a large bird named Penn. When you find a new stable, he’s somewhere nearby, ready to share the latest scoop. It’s worth completing the missions because that’s how to get the Froggy Armor set.

Unfortunately, the bird is not easy to spot at Dueling Peaks Stable. To find Penn at Dueling Peaks Stable, look on top of the stable tent. He is perched near its highest point. You must climb up to the lower tent using crates, then use the Ascend ability to reach Penn’s perch and talk to him. Alternately, fast travel to Eshos Shrine and float down to the tent.

When you talk to Penn, he says the princess has been kidnapped by the Yiga. He provides a clue from a note referencing the ‘carved-out heart of the towering twins.’ This exchange kicks off a quest called Princess Zelda Kidnapped?!

To find the kidnappers, turn to the twin peaks overlooking the stable (Eshos Shrine stands near the top of the north one). Ascend to the shrine and then climb the high stone hill behind it. Then look across the canyon to the south peak. You should see a ravine with a cage sitting in it. The above screenshot shows the location of that vantage point.

Float across the gap between the two peaks. Once you arrive, use the Ultrahand ability to lift the cage and free its prisoner. This reveals that the abduction was all a ruse. You haven’t found Princess Zelda at all.

Now you must battle three Yiga enemies. If you have reasonably upgraded armor, they can barely scratch you. They move quickly and warp around a bit. Focus on one of them at a time. Their leader moves the fastest. A few hits tend to each of them, though. Once you defeat all three foes, Penn appears with your reward and the side quest concludes.
