How Long Does it Take to Beat Dying Light 2?

Date:

Jumping into Dying Light 2? You’re probably wondering how long it will take you to beat. Here’s everything you need to know.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room. A few weeks before its release, Dying Light 2‘s developer Techland came out with a Tweet that suggested it would take 500 hours to complete. Don’t panic. It’s not true. Well, not quite.

If you just want to focus on Dying Light 2‘s story, you can expect to finish the game in around 20-25 hours. But that means rushing around, skipping past any side content and not engaging fully with the game and the world around you. A more natural playthrough, still focusing on the main story but doing some side stuff, will likely take you around 35 hours.

There’s a lot of content in Dying Light 2, however, and if you want to engage in more side content – there are towers to claim, enemy bandit camps to clear out, water towers and electricity substations to power up, and a whole lot more – you should expect to spend at least double that time with the game. We had a blast with all of the side excursions, and so they’re worth taking part in.

As for Techland’s 500 hours claim? It’s probably true; there are multiple endings to Dying Light 2 depending on choice you make while playing. Playing through the game multiple times and completing every single side activity in the game likely will take you around 500 hours. We, unfortunately, have not had enough time to test it out yet. Ask us again in a few months.
