Greg Street, better known as Ghostcrawler, is someone that is extremely well-known in the World of Warcraft community. Having once been the lead systems designer for the game, Ghostcrawler quickly became a favourite of the WoW community thanks to his constant communication with the playerbase. Ghostcrawler’s relationship with the players via multiple social media platforms is something that certainly made his departure from Blizzard and WoW one that was heartfelt, but in 2013, he decided to take his talents to Riot Games.

Taking up the position of Lead Game Designer for League of Legends, it is clear that he helped the game reach a peak like no other. However, in more recent times, Ghostcrawler had put his MMO background to good use once again, as Riot Games moved to create a game to rival the likes of World of Warcraft. As Executive Producer for the project, Greg has been overseeing the new game for the last few years, up until earlier today, where he sadly has announced that he will be stepping down.

In a post made via his Twitter account, Greg confirmed that he would be handing over the development of the game to others that he has been working with, ensuring that it would be “in good hands”. While it is unfortunate to see him stepping down, he cited personal reasons for his choice, and when had last heard from Greg via his social accounts, he had been going through an incredibly turbulent time within his personal life.

For now, although we have very little information on the Riot Games MMO, it seems unlikely that development could slow down, as the team search for a new person to lead them in the same way as Ghostcrawler. With the game still deemed to be in its early development stages, it’s sure to still continue without too many issues, as highlighted by Marc Merrill in a follow up Tweet.

All that aside, Ghostcrawler was also the person who previously stated that there was no guarantee that the game would ever release – but added that production of the game would not stop until it was completed. We will have to wait and see what comes of this, and if we will see Ghostcrawler make an impact on another massive franchise in the future.
