Free Fire India Launch Delayed Indefinitely

Date:

The launch of Free Fire in India has been postponed indefinitely as the game developers came out with a statement earlier today that breaks the news of this local version of Free Fire not being launched as per the scheduled date of 05 Sep 23. The reason for this huge action remains unclear with just a certain minor details at play.

Free Fire is one of the biggest mobile games in the world. It had a huge player base in India but due to alleged privacy issues and the addictive nature of the game, it was taken down by the government of India a year ago. After that, the developers made some developments in the background to bring back the game and it was brought to fruition this month.

Garena had announced the launch of Free Fire India, a local version of the game like PUBG Korea where all the features in the game were modified to abide by the laws of the Indian government regarding the IT and gaming sector. Furthermore, Garena brought many ambassadors on board to announce this launch and make it a success story.

In a post earlier today, Garena stated the following:

“To ensure we can offer the best possible experience to all of our Free Fire India fans from the start, we will postpone the launch by a few more weeks. In addition to refining the gameplay, we are taking some time to fully complete our localization of the Free Fire India experience. We would like to thank our Free Fire India community for your support, and hope that you will bear with us while we work on bringing you the ultimate battle royale experience.”

The only factor for delaying this launch is to complete the “localization” of the FF India experience, which could be some minor changes to the UI and the game itself. One of the major things that are coming to the game now is the new character Thala, based on cricket champion MSD.

Players are excited for the comeback of Free Fire in India but this sudden rescheduling might lead to a few discussions on the future of the game in India, which seems to be secured for now if the game is launched within a few weeks as estimated.
