It’s not every day you find a European-style home that resembles a castle in.

Perched high on its street with a grand turret at its entrance, the five-bedroom home at 23 Yalpara Ave certainly stands out.

Property records show it hit the market with Harcourts Pilgrim in February last year – only the second time since it was built 25 years ago – but has been relisted with Toop+Toop in a renewed push to sell it.

Toop & Toop agent Alexander Parzis, who is selling the property with Hayley Parzis, said the original owner built it following an overseas trip.

“He was inspired by Europe, especially Germany,” he said.

“He travelled Europe, came back here and wanted to replicate something of the older style.”

Built in 1998 over three years, the unique home spans multiple storeys on a 673sq m block surrounded by manicured gardens.

The main living area that opens onto a covered outdoor entertainment area, as well as formal living and dining rooms are on the ground floor, while all five bedrooms are upstairs.

It also has a pool with water feature in the backyard, as well as a cellar.

Hayley Parzis said the current owners spared no expense refurbishing the home, from upgrading the kitchen and alfresco area to repainting the whole house and refreshing the oak parquetry floors.

She said they remained true to its unique and grand character though as that was what they initially fell in love with.

“They originally fell in love with the uniqueness of the home – it’s such a beautifully crafted home,” Ms Parzis said.

“All the home’s bluestone was hand cut out of the Adelaide Hills and the doors have been cut out of churches in over the years.

“It was evident that time and love had been put into the home.

“To them it was like a castle with enchanted gardens.”

Ms Parzis said while the owners were selling the property to move closer to work and family, they would be sad to see it go.

It is being sold via a best offers campaign that closes at 2pm on August 1.
