Czech Aerospace Excellence at Dubai Airshow 2023 – ACE (Aerospace Central Europe)

Date:

The Dubai Airshow 2023, held from 13th to 17th November, stood as a beacon for the global aerospace community, and the Czech Republic was a significant part of this grand event. Our focus here at ACE is to delve into the remarkable contributions of Czech companies, especially highlighting the strides made by Aero Vodochody Aerospace, a key player in our nation’s aerospace sector.

Aero Vodochody Aerospace: Leading the Charge

As I walked through the bustling pavilions of the Dubai Airshow, the presence of Aero Vodochody Aerospace was immediately noticeable. Representing the zenith of Czech aerospace capabilities, their L-39NG aircraft garnered substantial attention.

Filip Gunnar Kulštrunk, EVP and Chief Sales Officer at Aero Vodochody, shared his insights: “The L-39NG represented the pinnacle of Czech Aerospace Industry capabilities at the official Czech Republic stand. We received significant interest from the UAE Air Force, a testament to the aircraft’s potential as a trainer and a light attack and reconnaissance aircraft.”

This development aligns perfectly with Aero’s broader vision in the global aerospace market. Kulštrunk added, “Aero is proud to represent the Czech Aerospace Industry. The L-39NG showcases not just Aero’s capabilities but also those of many Czech suppliers. This synergy enhances our global reputation and aligns with our vision of regaining our position as a leading jet trainer aircraft OEM.”

První Brněnská Strojírna Velká Bíteš: A Vital Contributor

Another Czech company that stood out at the event was První Brněnská Strojírna Velká Bíteš. Milan Macholán, CEO of the company,  highlighted their key achievements, stating, “We showcased our APU for medium helicopters with our partners, the AAL Group. Our participation in the aerospace and defence sector in the MENA region is a significant step towards building global awareness of the PBS brand.”

Milan Macholán further emphasized the importance of global partnerships, noting, “Companies in the region are looking for partners with excellent technology solutions. It’s an open market where a good solution can successfully penetrate the global market.”

Job Air Technic: Exploring New Opportunities

Job Air Technic, represented by CEO & Chairman Vladimír Stulančák, offered a unique perspective at the Dubai Airshow. Though the show presented limited opportunities for an Airframe MRO company like theirs, it was a valuable platform for exploring new avenues. Stulančák observed a notable focus on UAV systems and ATM software within the CSG Holding group and its aerospace division. The military aspect of the show was also significant.

Stulančák emphasized the value of such events for facilitating customer and partner meetings, saving time and travel costs. Job Air Technic successfully opened new potential channels for collaboration, although, as Stulančák noted, it’s too early to disclose specific details, adhering to the business rule of keeping deals under wraps until finalized.

LOM Praha: Showcasing a Century-Long Legacy

Jiří Protiva, the director of LOM Praha, highlighted their key achievements at the Dubai Air Show. Supported by the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, LOM Praha showcased their services on a global stage. The event allowed them to meet key business partners and work on projects that align with their gradual shift to a Western-focused portfolio.

As a state-owned company with over a century in the aviation industry, LOM Praha aims to support the life cycle of aircraft operated by the Czech Air Force and transition its portfolio to Western platforms. Protiva pointed out that one of the most inspiring outcomes of the event was the opportunity to expand cooperation with progressive UAE companies, like Calidus, indicating a promising future for LOM Praha in international markets.

Other Czech Companies Making an Impact

In addition to Aero Vodochody, První Brněnská Strojírna Velká Bíteš, Job Air Technic and LOM Praha, the Czech Republic’s stand also featured other notable companies like Aircraft Industries, Charvat AXL, CSG Aerospace, and several more, each showcasing their unique aerospace solutions.

Conclusion

As I reflect on the events of the Dubai Airshow 2023, it’s evident that the Czech Republic is not just participating in the global aerospace arena; it’s actively shaping it. The achievements of Aero Vodochody and other Czech companies at the Airshow are a testament to the innovative spirit and technological prowess of our nation’s aerospace industry. As we move forward, the future of Czech aerospace looks not just promising but also incredibly exciting.
