Crytek Has Announced Crysis 4 is in Development

Date:

Crysis 4

It’s been nine years since Crysis 3 released, but it’s getting a sequel.

Today, developer Crytek has announced that a new game in the Crysis series is in development. Crysis 4 has been announced via a very short teaser trailer, which you can watch at the bottom of this article.

So, what else do we know about Crysis 4, other than it’s a thing that will eventually exist? Well, not much. This is, unfortunately, about it. According to Crytek’s announcement, it’s still in the early stages of development, so “it will be a while yet”. “A while” is a rather vague measurement of time, but we’d anticipate we won’t be seeing Crysis 4 out in the wild until at least late 2023 or 2024.

Still, for fans of the series, this is undoubtedly exciting news. The first game released way back in 2007, and has been followed by two numbered sequels, and a standalone expansion called Crysis Warhead. We’ll have to wait and see what the story of Crysis 4 will be, but it’s likely to revolve around the same nanosuit-wearing military agents tasked with taking down an advanced alien species.

Crytek promises to share more information once it’s available. You can read the full announcement from the company’s CEO, Avni Yerli, by clicking here. And watch that announcement teaser below.
