We’re not really sure what happened with Conan Chop Chop.
We first wrote about this game way back in 2019 – remember 2019? How simple our lives were back then – when Conan Chop Chop was supposed to release. It was pushed back to early 2020. We even went hands-on with the game in January 2020, when the game had a ‘firm’ release date for the following month. Lo, it was delayed again (to ‘Q2 2020’). And again (to ‘early 2021’). And again (well, we just stopped getting updates at that point).
Finally. We are here, on 1st March 2022, and Conan Chop Chop is a game that you can buy on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.

Has it been worth the wait? Well, we’ll see. When we previewed it all that time ago, we got a real kick out of its cartoony art style and its tough difficulty. Back then, though, we only played it solo; multiplayer was simply a possible feature of the game. Now it’s being marketed as a “co-op roguelite party game”, so developers Funcom and Mighty Kingdom are really doubling down on the multiplayer angle. You can still play by yourself, but it seems that’s not the intended way to enjoy Conan Chop Chop.
The trailer, which you can watch below, tells us that the game has 14 trillion weapon combinations thanks to swords imbued with fire, poison arrows and other random combinations you can come across. Another 13.99999 trillion, apparently.

If zany multiplayer roguelike action isn’t enough to make you want to buy Conan Chop Chop, maybe this will. Funcom has pledged to donate $100,000 USD of the proceeds from the sale of the game to the Red Cross’ Ukraine fund. It joins a legion of other game developers and publishers already helping raise money for the people affected by war in Ukraine.
