Bugsnax is getting a free update called The Isle of Bigsnax. Here’s what you need to know.
Bugsnax, a game which launched alongside the PlayStation 5, is a first person adventure game where players explore the mysterious Snaktooth Island on the hunt for the titular Bugsnax. The collected Bugsnax then get fed to the Grumpuses, which then take on the properties of whatever Bugsnax they eat. The game has a very cutesy style, and an extremely catchy theme song, but now with this new update it seems we’re about to a lot more content.
The update’s title, The Isle of Bigsnax, for the most part tells you most of what you need to know. It takes place on a new island, filled with giant Bugsnax which have been adorably named Bigsnax. Naturally, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. These giant Bugsnax will be a little tricker to capture, but will sure to be a great meal for your friends.
Bigsnax aren’t the only thing coming in this free update. The Isle of Bigsnax will allow you to decorate your own hut by completing challenges. With over 100 challenges and 30 quests, you’ll be kitting out your hut in no time.

Bugsnax: The Isle of Bigsnax will be releasing sometime in early 2022. A definitive date has yet to be confirmed, but with early 2022 as the window, fans won’t have too long to wait.
The update will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. If you’re a new player, the content will show up organically as you play through the game. If you’re a returning player who has completed the base game, then you’ll be able to load your completed save which places you back into Snaxburg before the point of no return.
