Annie Wersching, best known for her role in The Last of Us, has passed away at 45

Date:

The voice and motion capture of Tess from Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, has passed away at 45 due to cancer.

Annie Wersching has passed away, aged 45 after a prolonged battle with cancer since it was diagnosed back in 2020. But despite all that, she still managed to continue her acting career in which she starred in Star Trek: Picard as well as The Rookie.

Wersching was best known for her role in Naughty Dog’s 2013 critically acclaimed hit, The Last of Us. Wersching took up the voice over and motion capture role of Tess, one of video game’s most popular female protagonists to date. Aside from that, she also provided voice over and motion capture work for Electronic Art’s 2019 online multiplayer role-playing game, Anthem.

She has also appeared in various television roles, whether it would be a guest appearance or a recurring role. Some of her more notable work on TV included recurring roles with some familiar names like General Hospital, Extant, The Vampire Diaries, Timeless, The Rookie, and Star Trek: Picard.

Speaking of Star Trek, that was also how she started her career, appearing in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise back in 2002. Having been in the film and TV industry for over 20 years, she has been part of the main cast for three different series, most notably 24 from season’s seven and eight.

She was also part of the main cast of the first season of Bosch before being a guest star in season two as well as seven. Another notable name that Wersching has put her mark on is Marvel’s Runaways, which took place from 2017 to 2019.

Wersching is survived by her husband, Stephen Full and their three sons, Freddie, Ozzie, and Archie.  The husband, who is also an actor, has issued the following statement following his wife’s recent passing.

There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall.

Neil Druckman, creative director of the HBO MAX series The Last of Us based on the video game with the same name, also tweeted out in response to Wersching’s passing. This also included a GoFundMe link that was set up by her fellow Marvel’s Runaways co-star, Ever Carradine.
