76ers star Joel Embiid was named an All-Star for the sixth time on Thursday evening, while his teammate, James Harden, did not make the team.
The All-Star reserves were announced on TNT. Shortly after, other NBA reporters like Shams Charania shared the rosters:
For Embiid, many expected him to be a starter for the Eastern Conference, but he was forced to a bench spot behind Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Embiid is averaging 33.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. He has been at the top of the MVP conversation yet again.
Harden, meanwhile, surprisingly did not make the team despite leading the NBA in assists per game. While he has not quite hit the games played mark to be officially the league leader, many still expected him to play in the All-Star game.
Harden is averaging 21.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 11.0 assists and 1.2 steals this season. Other guards like Tyrese Haliburton and Jrue Holiday made the roster over him.
Harden has been an All-Star 10 times in his career.
The 76ers are third in the Eastern Conference this season with a 33-17 record.
