Tracking Base Stations

The original HTC SteamVR tracking base stations are down from $135 to $100, while the HTC 2.0 base stations are down from $200 to $150.

Keep in mind Valve sells its own 2.0 base stations for $150 already, and there are no advantages to HTC’s base stations we’re aware of.

SteamVR Tracking 2.0 supports up to four base stations, which can improve the tracking’s robustness to occlusion.

SteamVR Tracking 2.0 Improves Base Stations To Cover Warehouses

Valve’s Lighthouse tracking system for SteamVR headsets remains arguably the best in the industry, and it’s set for a big upgrade this November. The company this week issued a tracking technology update over on Steam where it revealed some surprising new plans for what it called SteamVR Tracking

The original base stations work with all SteamVR tracked devices, including any trackers, headsets, and controllers. The 2.0 base stations however will only work with 2.0 tracked devices, so keep that in mind.
