MakersPlace Reveals “Filmic Pieces” that Combine AI, Spoken Word Poetry, and Cinema

SAN FRANCISCO, Sep. 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — MakersPlace, the pioneering platform for digital art NFTs, is thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration between esteemed actors and artists, Laurence Fuller and Vincent D’Onofrio.

On September 20, 2023, these collaborators will release their poetic cinema work I’M A MONKEY WITH AN ORGAN GRINDING FRIEND, a unique piece comprising poetry by D’Onofrio and original artistic and musical direction by Fuller as well as Tell Me More, a solo work by Fuller. The Drop goes live at 9am PT on September 20th, 2023, here.

“I’ve always followed the technology. I’ve always loved that aspect of what I do…” said D’Onofrio in a recent podcast interview with MakersPlace. “We use AI as a palette, and sometimes a brush. We mix the paints, and it’s our experiences, our emotions that dictate what we do, not a machine mimicking.”

When discussing how acting informs their art and poetry in the same interview, Fuller said, “Standing on stage, the fear of forgetting your lines, the anxiety of being vulnerable — it grinds away at your fear of social exchanges and emotions. This process is helpful not only for any art form, but life in general. Many people walk around with their emotional walls up. Art gives them a glimpse of what lies deep within them, their protected core. As artists, we expose that core and explore it.”

With plans to also showcase their art at venues in NYC and LA in the near future, Fuller and D’Onofrio aim to provide a multisensory experience, blending the line between traditional art forms and modern digital interpretations.

“MakersPlace remains at the forefront of the digital art revolution,” said Craig Palmer, CEO of MakersPlace. “This collaboration with Laurence Fuller and Vincent D’Onofrio exemplifies our commitment to fostering unique artistic expressions. We’re eager to provide a platform for their visionary creations and look forward to the extraordinary fusion of tradition and innovation they bring to our community.”

This partnership on MakersPlace, facilitated by producer, curator and web3 artist manager AnimusLive, underscores MakersPlace’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression, building on its recent successful launch of a dedicated Generative AI category and their work with Nematic Gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea, where Fuller’s piece Tell Me More sold for 3 ETH.
