WITHIN hours of holding her newborn son, Courtney Caulfield was on the phone settling a deal.

The day before she went to a property inspection, and six weeks later, nothing much has changed for the talented agent from Place Kangaroo Point — except a lack of sleep.

The 33-year-old is one of the top performers in our list of Queensland’s top 40 young agents under 35 based on 2023 sales figures submitted by major agencies across the state.

In the days before and after giving birth to her son, Krug (after the champagne of course), at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital, she managed to settle more than $20 million worth of apartment sales. In 2023, she sold more than $98 million worth of residential real estate.

“It’s keeping me going!” Ms Caulfield said. “Otherwise, I’m just a fulltime formula feeder.

“I definitely love my job.”

Ms Caulfield, who is married to fellow agent, Simon Caulfield, said juggling motherhood and a career had made her more efficient and better at prioritising tasks and managing time, while also making her appreciate choosing a career that was surprisingly family-friendly for women.

Mater

Krug Caulfield born on the 8th of January 2024 at Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

“When I was a lawyer, I thought; ‘When I have kids, my career’s over’, but in real estate that is just not the case,” she said. “You have flexibility, and I can take my kids with me to inspections because most of my clients have kids, and you can earn what you want the more hours you put in.

“Women should know in today’s day and age that a female can have a career that’s family-friendly.”

Ms Caulfield is one of a growing pool of young agents — many still in their 20s — who are earning millions selling real estate.

Real estate transaction figures provided exclusively to the Sunday Mail reveal nearly 20 residential agents across the state under the age of 35 each pulled in more than $50 m

illion in sales last year.

Real Estate Institute of Queensland CEO Antonia Mercorella said it was interesting to see the number of women in the list.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella.

“We speak a lot about the pay gap in other professions but in real estate, women are very successful,” Ms Mercorella said.

“Some of the most successful agents around are females. We’re talking about women leading teams in leadership roles, it is incredibly noteworthy.”
