Dead by Daylight Alien?

Over the years, Dead by Daylight has slowly become a one-stop shop for all things horror. The biggest and baddest monsters in horror lore have been brought to the asymmetrical thriller, including Leatherface and Michael Myers. The latest chapter of the game brings one of the ultimate scares in the genre – Alien!

Xeno vs Ripley

Dead by Daylight: Alien is now available on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC. Such a collaboration has been long overdue for the game, and has been something that developers Behaviour Interactive have been wishing for. Mathieu Côté, Head of Partnerships at the company, had this to say:

Alien has been and continues to be one of the best sci-fi stories ever told – and to be able to collaborate with 20th Century Games on bringing this story into Dead by Daylight is a privilege for all of us at Behaviour Interactive.

The most notable inclusion in this pack is the playable Killer Xenomorph, who will be stalking around a wrecked Nostromo. But what is the point of a Xeno if there is no Ripley? Luckily, Ripley is playable as a Survivor, making use of her trusty Remote Flame Turret. This new Survivor tool will be available to use exclusively against the Xenomorph, and will stagger him. This is very important as it will put a stop to his special Power, which enables him to sneak up on other Survivors effectively.

Such powers were very exciting to devise, as explained by Dave Richard, Creative Director behind DBD:

What a gift to bring such an icon of horror into Dead by Daylight… Its appearance is so striking, so fear-inducing in itself…but to have it in our game also delivering on horrifying surprise moments really opens the door for fun strategic gameplay. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished with this Chapter.

The Nostromo Wreckage map also furthers the fan service. A dark, eerie map set in front of the wrecked ship from the first Alien film, there’s plenty of alleys for an opportunistic Xeno to hide around. When playing as the Xeno, you can also make use of tunnels under the map, which Behaviour Interactive state was a unique challenge:

Creating the Xenomorph’s Tunnel system was very challenging as we had never created a sub- level that could only be accessible to the Killer”, says Janick Neveu, Game Designer on the game. “This new mechanic grants it Map-wide mobility and definitely amps up the scare factor – which feels very connected to the original character.

“One of the biggest challenges of this Chapter was blending the world of Alien with the world of Dead by Daylight. We strived to honor the source material while respecting our gameplay and the universe we have built, and hope players will recognize – and appreciate – the familiar sights and twisted environmental tweaks from The Entity”, explains Chase Toole, Associate Artistic Director on Dead by Daylight.

And So It Begins…

Dead by Daylight: Alien is now available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC. Pick up a copy today for £9.15, via the Xbox Store.
