Take Your Home Profile to the Arcade With VRstudios Sports new Player Portal

Date:

At the beginning of the month, VRstudios launched basketball title Hoops Madness the first under its new VRstudios Sports brand. This new venture will allow players to take their profile to a location-based entertainment (LBE) venue and continue their stats, and vice-a-versa.

Hoops Madness

The ability to do this is thanks to VRstudios’ Attraction Management Platform (AMP) which has been operating for over four years at locations employing the company’s VR attractions. Developing the AMP Player Portal means that players can create a profile to track their scores and global leaderboard rankings whether they play at home or in an arcade using ATOM or FLEX systems.

“While we care deeply about the impact of COVID-19 to the people and businesses in our industry, we continue to believe in a robust recovery driven by the inherent, and now pent up, basic human need to connect, meet up, socialize and share experiences together,” said VRstudios CEO Kevin Vitale in a statement. “To that end, I am super excited about the launch of VRstudios Sports as a new foundation to connect players and relationships between home and the LBE facility. It redraws the traditional boundaries as “Home” becomes a new extended LBE location and VR adds a whole new dimension to “eSports”.”

At the moment this feature is only compatible with VRstudios Sports’ Hoops Madness. Available on Steam Early Access for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, Hoops Madness features six single-player and multiplayer modes to test those ball skills. “Matches can be customized by players or played as the random ones provided. Players will be able to earn achievements and receive points for consistency, trick shots, and game mode bonuses,” notes the studio.

This interconnection between home and arcade isn’t all VRstudios has planned. Coming soon is the Fury Sports Booth, designed to reduce the cost of operations for venues as it doesn’t need to be attended by a member of staff. A single-player unit, the system is modular so it can be networked to other Fury units.

Additionally, VRstudios also has plans to allow you to bring your own VR headset to a venue and plug in, reducing costs again for operators whilst removing any hygiene worries guests may have. Made possible with VRstudios’ patent-pending BYO-VR technology.

As further details on these plans arise, VRFocus will let you know.
