Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge to Feature at Facebook Connect

Date:

There’s a couple of days to go until Facebook Connect with the event expected to feature lots of big announcements. ILMxLAB and Oculus have been working on Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge with the former revealing in a recent tweet that fans will get a new glimpse at the upcoming VR experience.

Featuring the top image of what looks like a repair shop, the tweet indicated that more video footage could be on the cards, hopefully delving deeper into the planet of Batuu where the title is set and the characters which inhabit this world.

The biggest info dump for Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge occurred in July where ILMxLAB dropped a behind-the-scenes reveal video showcasing plenty of artwork for a variety of scenes as well as interviews with the developers and some of the voice cast. For an event like Facebook Connect expectations will be high that the first gameplay footage will be shown rather than early capture.

Based around Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area, Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge is set between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Players jump in the shoes of a droid repair technician who crash lands on Batuu after a pirate attack. Meeting Seezelslak, an Azumel bartender in his cantina he’ll tell you stories transporting you to other places and times in the Star Wars galaxy.

Currently, Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge has been confirmed for Oculus Quest although it’s unclear if support will also include Oculus Rift S as well. Earlier today Facebook Blueprint leaked details of Oculus Quest 2, confirming what everyone was expecting to happen on Wednesday.

Alongside Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge which is slated for release this year, Star Wars fans also have Star Wars: Squadrons to look forward to in October across a variety of platforms from EA’s Motive Studios. It’ll include solo and multiplayer modes where gamers take to the skies in Rebel and Imperial craft to fight it out. As ILMxLAB release further updates for this new VR project, keep reading VRFocus.
