Major League Baseball is about to start and teams have prepared their pitching rotations. Here is the St. Louis Cardinals 2024 projected pitching rotation.
1. Miles Mikolas RHP
Mikolas had his worst season since 2014 in 2023, but gets the Opening Day start nonetheless. He had a 9-13 record and an ERA of 4.78 in 2023.
2. Zack Thompson LHP
Thompson battled for the last spot in the rotation, but will be pitching in the second game of the season. He had a 4.48 ERA in 2023 with time spent as a starter and in the bullpen.
3. Lance Lynn RHP
Lynn returns to the team that gave him his start and where he last pitched in 2017. In 2023, Lynn had a 13-11 record with an ERA of 5.73 for the White Sox and Dodgers.
4. Steven Matz LHP
Matz enters his third season with the Cardinals after a solid 2023 outing. Last season he had a 4-7 record and a 3.86 ERA.
5. Kyle Gibson RHP
After spending the 2023 season with the Orioles, Gibson joined the Cardinals. In 2023, he had a 15-9 record and a 4.73 ERA.
Notes: Sonny Gray (RHP) will start the season on the IL with a hamstring injury. Matthew Liberatore (LHP) was also in contention for the Opening Day rotation.
