The solutions to scale ETH 100 are going to work well and will solve the scaling woes until the ETH2 sharing introduction comes as Vitalik Buterin noted and we are reading more in our latest Ethereum news today.

The ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin believes that the network will soon scale better by a factor of 100 predicting Optimism will release a layer-two solution in the next few weeks. Buterin noted that the ETH2 developers are focused on working and creating a merge with Ethereum and believes that the layer-two solutions will support the network until the sharing solution is developed and implemented. He added:

 “Rollups are coming very soon, we’re fully confident that by the time that we need any more scaling of that, sharding will have already been ready for a long time by then.”

Rollups are the second layer solution that processes and stores transaction data on one sidechain before bundling the batches of transactions on the ETH mainnet and the solutions are also crated to mitigate the scaling woes where fierce competition for bandwidth on the ETH mainnet resulted in staggering fees. While ETH2 uses sharding to ensure scalability when it’s rolled out, Buterin thinks that this feature will be enough for the mid-term and noted that rollups will improve Etheruem’s transactional throughput by about 100 times:

 “The thing to remember is that if you have rollups, but you do not have sharding, you still have 100X factor scaling, right? You still have the ability for the blockchain to go up to somewhere between 1,000 and 4,000 transactions a second, depending on how complex these transactions are.”

Buterin thinks that Optimism will launch the Ethereum Virtual Machine of EVM-compatible rollups in about a month highlighting major progress made by Arbitrum on their own EVM-compatible rollups. The Optimism rollups are going to be embraced by some of DeFi’s industry leaders with commentators saying that Uniswap’s coming V3 overhaul will start utilizing it. Synehtix and Aave are also the first projects that will utilize the technology:

 “There was actually simpler rollups that are only capable of processing simple transactions that are exchanging between assets like Loopring, and zkSync. Those rollups have already been running stably for about a year — so rollups aren’t even theory. They’ve been a practical part of [the] scalability of Ethereum for a few users for almost a year.”

Buterin even authored a proposal for a system allowing the smart contract protocols to directly communicate between one another in different layer two scaling solutions.
