Two months before the start of the Overwatch League, Overwatch 2 is finally making its way to Battle.net.

Today, Blizzard released a new version for Overwatch developers titled 2.00.7.0.9319 (93195). This is the first time a version of Overwatch 2 is available on the platform. It hints at the beginning of tests in preparation for the upcoming Overwatch League season.

Overwatch 2 Dev version on Battle.net

Overwatch 2 was first announced in 2019, but since then little has been revealed about this new game. According to Overwatch 2 producer Tracy Kennedy, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is responsible for the game’s delays. He would keep on asking the Overwatch 2 team to work on extra projects for the original game, even requiring them to work overtime. This led to production delays, eventually causing Blizzard to postpone Overwatch 2 in November 2021.

Since then, Overwatch League pros and content creators had the opportunity to try Overwatch 2. This new game changes the usual 6v6 fights to a more dynamic 5v5 system. Heroes also receive major changes in their gameplay and overall abilities.

A developer version of Overwatch 2 is now available on Battle.net. According to several leaks, Blizzard will likely announce Overwatch 2 in the upcoming weeks. The game should be available in March. The Overwatch League will start a month later, in April.
