It was meant to be one family’s dream forever home.

But with Covid and supply chain issues blowing out their construction time, and their children having since flown the coop, this Mitcham masterpiece is finally finished – and now could be yours.

Vendors Christopher and Pauline are selling the property they built after buying the vacant block at 9 Arcadia Court in 2018.

They worked with renowned builders Samuel James Homes to create something that not only maximised its impressive views but that had all of the trimmings they wanted to live a luxurious entertainer’s lifestyle.

“We’re an English family and we fell in love with the place, and for the first time in our life we were able to find a bit of land, which we could never do in England,” Christopher says. “Our daughters were going to Scotch (College) and we really loved Mitcham and fell in love with this corner of the city with the hills and the elevation – from this block you can walk up the trails to Belair from the back gate.

“Samuel James Homes had some exquisite designs that really blew us away.

“They reconfigured one of their designs to make it work on our slope and then my wife put her stamp on it and put every bit of bling into it.

“It was our lifetime dream to do something special like this.

“That top level sits 11m above the road, which already offers elevation, so we can see Port Adelaide, around to the hills to the right, through to the airport and right down to Glenelg and Marion and beyond.

“It’s incredible. It’s views on steroids.”

The lift-serviced home sits on a sloping 1047sq m allotment and offers some 506sq m of luxe indoor and outdoor living space over its three levels.

It has four bedrooms – all on the middle level, with the master suite complete with a walk-in robe and an ensuite.

The other three all have built-ins and ensuites.

The upper level is an entertainer’s dream and features a lounge with a bar, a wine room, two balconies, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area that opens out to a covered alfresco area with an outdoor kitchen overlooking an infinity pool with a pool room and hot tub nearby.

A garage occupies the lower level and the home has two feature spiral staircases.

With her family no longer needing such a big home, Pauline says it is time for it to be enjoyed to its fullest.

“I wouldn’t make any changes – we’ve done this to the best of our ability and it really is incredible,” she says.

“I’m ready to hand it over and I’d be delighted for a family to hopefully get that same pleasure living here as I’ve had designing it.”

Expressions of interest for the home close at noon on Tuesday, March 5.
