Legend of Constellations Rug Pull? Dev Abandons Project Leaving Pinoy Players With Worthless Tokens | BitPinas

Date:

Legend of Constellation (LOC), a “free-to-play blockchain game” (as its fans would insist) that is popular amongst a group of Pinoy players and even abroad, is currently in a hot tub after a rug pull was discovered by its community.

A John Smith posted this on Facebook:

Legend of Constellation: An Overview

LOC Awakening features constellation heroes that have different abilities and powers. Players can play both PvP and PvE modes to collect these heroes.

To emphasize its play-to-earn feature, the game has Legend of Constellation Coin (LOCC), which the developers claim as the “official tradable in-game cryptocurrency.” There are only three constellation heroes that produce LOCC—Cassiopeia, Cepheus, and Phoenix.

Basically, when players use these heroes in the game, they will earn $LOCC. They will also earn a certain amount of $LOCC by just owning these heroes.

The game also offers referral rewards, according to local platform P2Exchange. If a new user uses the invitation code of an older player, $LOCC rewards will be given.

LOC Red Flags Issues: Connecting the Dots

In an unofficial Facebook Group of the game, user Fox Ranoce posted a conversation in Telegram that implies that the community managers of the game in the country know the rug pull plan of the developers. They also allegedly received $500 each.

The October 26, 2023 date that was mentioned in the photo above was supposedly the date when the withdrawal of $LOCC tokens would be allowed. But user Marc Louie Bumanglag was surprised when he discovered that some $LOCC tokens had already been withdrawn as early as October 23.

However, $LOCC is not listed in known crypto data aggregators CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. The said withdrawal process of the token is also uncommon, as $LOCC should be first swapped into $USDT, then $USDT to fiat.

Moreover, another red flag that players identified is that to be able to cash out $LOCC, they must first deposit 45 $USDT, or about ₱2,500.00, to their account. And when Bumanglag made this step, the withdrawal process for his $LOCC was rejected.

But some players still insisted that:

“Auto-rejected ‘pag ‘di naka-recharge ng 45 USDT, tulad sa’kin. Kung nakapag-recharge man, waiting status lang muna. Sa Oct 26 pa mai-auto-withdraw ang LOCC. ‘Yun ‘yung pagkakaintindi ko.” FB user Ivan Obenza Apaitan wrote on October 24.

Fast forward to October 26, Thursday, this is what players saw:

Collectively, players stressed that they cannot withdraw or swap their $LOCC tokens to $USDT. The community managers, which they call “team leaders,” also deleted their Telegram accounts, leading players to have no one to contact.

Comments From Community

“Estafa kasi ginawa ng mga kumag na ‘yan. Dapat jan ma-action-an ni Sir #raffytulfoinaction para hindi na sila umulit at walang Filipino na madamay. Lahat ng pinaghirapan ko, nakuha niyo na,” FB user Herbert Villarazo Sorro commented.

“Hindi ito crypto. Wala sa mainnet ang LOC, dapat up and down iyan, not stationary ang price. Ginamit na lang ang crypto for terms na lang. It’s a Ponzi scheme, not a crypto nor NFT game,” Psyruz James Eguiron emphasized.

Identified Red Flags

The list of red flags on Legend of Constellations are as follows:

Red Flag 1: The deactivation of TG accounts of “team leaders” further supports that they know that fraud is set to happen in the game. The name John Smith is also very generic, hence suspiciou.

Red Flag 2: $LOCC is not listed in crypto data aggregators. This could mean that $LOCC is not a crypto.

Red Flag 3: The most recent post on the game’s Facebook page was on October 22. There is no information about the October 26 withdrawal update, and no update on what happened lately.

Red Flag 4: The requirement to recharge 450 USDT first to be able to withdraw $LOCC is suspicious. Legitimate games and crypto projects do not require the participant to give money in exchange for more money.

Red Flag 5: The game developers allegedly promised a 100% gain in about three months.
