Kore.ai have announced an integration partnership with Mediktor. Headquartered in Orlando, US, Kore.ai has added its conversational AI-technology to Mediktor’s virtual healthcare platform.

The partnership brings a human-like element to Mediktor’s healthcare assistant – which operates at the level of triage and pre-diagnosis.

The companies say that access to care will be improved, patient experience boosted, and better health outcomes realised via the digital interface.

Healthcare providers will now be able to use conversational, multilingual, omnichannel healthcare assessment for patient healthcare provision. The technological framework is HealthAssist – Kore.ai’s HIPAA compliant conversational AI solution.

The technology combines natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning. Patients will be able to describe their symptoms in their own words, and inaccurate medical terms or spelling mistakes will not affect the assessment.

According to Mediktor, the addition of the conversational AI to its NLP framework can uncover meaningful insights from unstructured medical text that would have been otherwise unidentifiable via conventionally manual analysis.

“The combination of Kore.ai’s leading conversational AI and Mediktor’s top-notch medical NLP and care navigation capabilities will enable key players in the healthcare industry to discover valuable information and meaningful insights from patient’s unstructured medical text,” said Vicenç Ferrer, the managing director of Mediktor’s NYC headquarters. “Now, patients can enjoy a more seamless and pleasant healthcare guidance at the first onset of symptoms.”

The use of AI is becoming increasingly common in the medical sector, and with the advent of recent technologies like ChatGPT, patients are frequently engaging with virtual agents.

“The AI market is expected to reach sales of $93 billion in 2023, up 12% from 2022, according to GlobalData forecasts. AI is expected to become a key driver of medical device innovation and the use of AI will likely increase in 2023,” said GlobalData medical analyst Alexandra Murdoch.

“The FDA granted accelerated approvals of medical devices with AI in 2022, and this is expected to continue through 2023. As more AI-based tools and devices are approved, providers will be able to include AI in their everyday practice.”
