The Sims 4’s latest expansion provides your sims the opportunity to have the wedding of their dreams. But how do you actually get married?
There are multiple ways to marry sims in The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories. Some of these methods existed in previous iterations of The Sims, but the latest expansion allows for planning and more precision to the big day. If you’re playing My Wedding Stories, here’s what you need to know about getting married.
Before you sims can get married, however, they need to be engaged. You can create new sims that are already engaged in Create-a-Sim; simply choose ‘fiancé’ when selecting their relationship. Of course, you can still get sims engaged the good old-fashioned way by making someone propose. Remember, you’ll need to have spent time ensuring your sims are romantically interested in each other first.

Ways to Get Married in The Sims 4
And once your sims are engaged in The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories, you can start thinking about the wedding. Here are the different ways you can get married in The Sims 4:
- Choose “Elope Immediately” in Social Interactions
It’s as simple as that: simply have one of your engaged sims interact with the other, and choose “elope immediately”. If you want a Sims 4 wedding without any of the fuss, this is the way to go. - Interact with a Wedding Arch
If there’s a wedding arch placed somewhere on your lot, or in a public place, you can interact with it and choose “Get Married”. If you don’t have a wedding arch, you can buy one from Build Mode. Again, this is a quick way to get married without any fuss or planning. - Get Married at City Hall
Again, if you want a fuss-free marriage, then head to Tartosa’s City Hall in Porto Luminoso. You’ll find City Hall around the back of the village square. It’s not a building you can normally enter, but clicking on it will give you the option to “Get Married”. - Plan A Wedding Event
This is the big one that uses the full functionality of The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories. Using the Plan a Wedding function, which you can access via your Sim’s mobile phone, you can select a venue, invite guests, choose flowers, a cake, and more. You can choose what activities you want to happen at your wedding, like a toast, speeches or a sit-down meal.
