Homeworld 3 Dev Update Released

Date:

The team at Gearbox Publishing and Blackbird Interactive have released a new Homeworld 3 dev update that highlights some key changes the development team has made based on community feedback.

When it comes to controls, all keybinds are now re-bindable. In addition, there is now increased movement and rotation speed of the default camera settings, which helps ensure a smoother experience. There have also been updates to the legacy control scheme to replicate Homeworld 2 Remastered’s controls and feedback.

Changes have also been made to Homeworld 3’s combat. Not only have there been increased ship hitpoints by 30%, improvements have also been made to formations so they are more beneficial and strategically valuable. Note that support Frigate pilots now heal friendly ships without being directly instructed, ensuring increased autonomy.

For longtime fans, Classic Attack has returned. As found in older Homeworld titles, ships can now attack in one direction while moving in another. This, in turn, leads to increased combat depth/

When it comes to HUD and quality of life adjustments, players will not be able to use a slider to adjust the scale of the HUD in the settings menu. The NLIPS (Non-Linear Inverse Perspective Scrolling) has also been fixed to make sure players can still see and easily select smaller ships like Fighters.

Finally, general balance changes have been made to War Games. These include doubled the amount of objectives that can happen during a run. In addition, Resource Controllers are now free – at the cost of them taking significantly longer to produce in War Games.
